Mrs. Barry Passmore was in charge of the showing. Miss Wilson was in charge of the meeting and chose as the theme "The Meaning of Christ- mas". In talking of the festive season, she said, "It is the season for giving and receiving of gifts, when God gave to man the great- est gift of all time, Jesus Christ. Let us enjoy giving and receiving of material gifts as symbols of love." The singing of Christmas carols was interspersed with scripture reading by Mrs. O. Lewis and prayer led by Mrs. Haselgrove. Miss Wilson then read the poem, "The Priceless Gift of Christmas", in which she said it is "a heavenly gift which only God can give and it's ours just for the asking for as long as we shall live". Her closing words were, "So take His priceless gift of love, reach out and you receive, and the only payment that God asks is just that you believe." The offering was accepted by Mrs. G. Johnston and Mrs. Patti- son and Miss Wilson closed with prayer. Mrs. Lockwood con- ducted the business and the minutes of the last meeting were read by Mrs. Wray. A total of 130 rrisits were recorded by the mem- bers. The treasurer's report was given by Mrs. Bone and the offer- ing of the Least Coin was re- ceived. Two sympathy cards have been delivered to Mrs. Tay - for and Miss Murray. The meeting closed with a hymn and lunch was served. A vote of thanks was tendered Mrs. Lockwood for two years' service as leader. Mrs. Underwood is the new leader of the unit. GORRIE" -- Mrs: William A. Smith was hostess for the December meeting of Knox Presbyterian Church Women's Missionary Society Wednesday evening. President Mrs. Thomas MacDonald opened with the aim and purpose of the W.M.S. after which she explained the meaning of the gifts the Three Wise Men brought to the Baby Jesus. "While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks by Night" was sung. • Miss Louise Matthews read the minutes. Roll call was answered by presenting a White Gift. The offering' was received.* Mrs.:W. Smith and dedicated by Mrs T. MacDonald. "Holy Night" was sung and Mrs. William Darling read from Luke 1: 2-17 followed by prayer by Miss Louise Mat- thews. Mrs. Cecil Payne read a poem, "The Fate of Man". Mrs. Charles 'Finlay gave the scrip- ture. The meditation was given by Mrs. A. Smith who spoke on "Christmas and Christmas Candles" after which a cande- lighting service was performed, each one lighting a candle . from the +Central candle which repre- sett 'jhfe'"L a it ';off the World:" Another carol, `Hark the Herald Angels Sing" was sung and Mrs. MacDonald offered prayer. The meeting closed by repeat- ing the Mizpah benediction. A -social time followed. Johnston: The members of Unit Four pre- sented the Christmas story, "The' Bethlehem Inn", as they depicted the manger scene with scripture read by Mrs. Bonnie Johnston and carols sung by the group. Mrs. Isobel Wheeler, Mrs. Max Dema ray and Mrs. Carol Camp- bell presented a very timely skit, "What Has Happened to Peace and Good Will?", illustrating a busy department store at Christ- mastime, with carols playing on the loud speakers and the rush and worry of the shoppers. ' The president conducted the business meeting. Roll call was answered with gifts for the Child- ren's• Aid Society. Rev. Wilena Brown discussed starting a refer- ence library and a decision was made to begin one. The ladies Gifts donated by B.P.W. Club The Business and Professional Women's Club held its Christmas dinner meeting at the Manor Hotel on Dec. 2. Members donated Christmas gifts for chil- dren, and these will be distri- buted through the Salvation Army later this month. Business completed, the group sang carols and played cards. Mrs. E. Suter and Miss N. Coutts will be in charge of the January meeting. —Mr. and Mrs. Jim Johnston, Paul, Ruth Ann and Carol Ann of Listowel were Sunday visitors' with his mother, Mrs. Gershon' Johnston of Catherine Street. On Monday, Mrs. Johnston and George Grigg visited with Mrs. Lois McMichael and Bruce of Seaforth and with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wood and Sylvia of Egmondville. —John Carruthers of London visited Friday with Mr. and Mrs. • George 'Fisher. . —Visitors at the home of Mrs. D.
