Three members of the Maitland Dirt Riders motorcycle'
club recently attended a meeting of the Listowel brigade of
the St. John Ambulance to present a walkie-talkie set to
them. Members of the Listo*el brigade attend motocross
races sponsored by the club and the gift was in appreciation

points, followed by the snarling

the Clue Klux Clan with a giant 41
points, followed by the Freaky
Five with 26. The Crusaders and
Anonymous. tied for third place
with 22 each, while the Jaws and
the Pink Panthers tied at 18 each.
In individual competition,
Brenda ' Foxton and Christine
Foxton shared the high single
spotlight with 215 each, but
Brenda captured the high doubles'
for the girls with 569. Paul Cerson
was tops for the boys with a high

The Brophy Tyke baseball
team ended its season with a
grand banquet Monday night
after emerging victorious in the
round-robin play-offs in the
team's division.. The boys re-
ceived jackets and crests at the
banquet.
Alf Lockridge, secretary of the
WC1AA, and his wife Catherine
were guests of the team. Mr.
Lockridge spoke briefly on the
humorous events of years past
and recalled anecdotes illustrat-
ing the enthusiasm of fans and
players alike in days gone by.

with a corsage of pink carnations,

Two years ago, a Major horror
film, "The Exorcist burst onto
the scene, enticing audiences
with a unique view of demonic
possession. Indeed, it seemed
that people all over the world
were intrigued with the notion of
a devil in the flesh. Now, "The
Devil's Rain", a new shocker has
been released, and opens Nov. 19
at the Lyceum. It's a story that
relates the rituals and practices
of devil worship, possession and
satanism and has a climax which
boasts a scare technique known
as "melting" that is sure to find a
permanent place in the annals of
fright films. An extraordinary
combination of makeup and
special effects are used to
achieve a look of human beings
disintegrating as if their entire
bodies were made of hot wax.
All the performers in the cast of
"The Devil's Rain" are actually
involved in these unusual special
effects. Ernest Borgnine plays
the devil himself, and co-starring
are Ida Lupino, William Shatner,
Eddie Albert, Tom Skerritt,
Keenan Wynn and Joan Prather.
Anton La Vey (head of the
Church of Satan, in real life) is
technical advisor, and also plays
a part in the movie, adding real-
ism to the scenes of cult rit-
ualism. -
Jacqueline Susan') wrote pas-
sionately - about life and about
people. She brought to her books
characters drawn from the glom-
' Brous world that surrounded her,
and became a phenomenal suc-
cess as millions read her books
and saw the films based on those
novels.. She had three consecutive
novels at the top of the best-seller
list -- "Valley of the Dolls:'"The
Love Machine" and "Once Is Not
Enough".
Paramount Pictures' Jac-

Enough" is based on the novel,
with the eight characters from
the book portrayed in the film
version by Kirk Douglas, Alexis
Smith, David Janssen, George
Hamilton, Melina Mercouri,
Gary Conway, Brenda Vaccaro
and Deborah Raffin.
"Once Is Not Enough" is the
story of a girl whose adoration for
her father is the primary force of
her life. She grows up with the de-
sire to take her place at his side,
unaware of the vacuum that is
behind the glittering facade of his
life as a renowned movie pro-
ducer.
Jacqueline Susan's "Once Is
Not Enough" began filming in
Spain and Switzerland, and con-
tinued in New York. Director of
Photography was John Alonzo,
who has also photographed
"Sounder," "Lady Sings The
Blues," and "Chinatown."
