THE GRANDSTAND at the Howick Fall Fair Saturday was
celebrity -packed for the opening ceremonies. Bob McKin-
ley, MP for the area, was one of the stars at the event who
was full of praise for the fair's accomplishments. Also
seated on the grandstand were: Linda Newton, 1975Queen
of -the Furrow, Don Pullen, agricultural representative
from the Ministry of Agriculture, Anson McKinley, Huron
County warden, emcee Jim Swan and Howick Township
reeve Bob Gibson.
SIX SPECTACULAR •MACHINES were, entered in the decorated bicycle contest at the
Howick Fall Fair Saturday. The bicycles were covered with balloons, crepe paper in
colorful shades and pompons. Tommy Leek was the first prize winner in the event.
THERE WAS EVERYTHING and anything at the Howick Fall' Fair Saturday afternoon.
The Howick Community Centre was the showcase for arts and crafts, flowers, plants,
fruits, vegetables, foods of every imaginable kind and homepnaking displays. Visitors
could try their hand at liquid embroidery, take a plant homq or just admire the various
items on display for their enjoyment. Smiles were everywhere, along with frequent•com-
ments of admiration for the work and enthusiasm that made this year's fair one of the best
ever.
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL HORSES at the Howick Fafl Fair Saturday were undoubtedly
the palominos. Decorated with glitter and rhinestones, beribboned, bedecked with flowers
and colors, they pranced their way into the hearts of most of the onlookers.

was the special topic for Interna-
tional Women's Year, Mrs. Orton
Howitt led a discussion on Human
Rights and the legal rights of
women. Many interesting facts
were brought to the attention of
the members.
During the business period
Mrs. Lyle Murray and Mrs.
Percy Huth were named as
leaders to attend the training,
school for the senior course,
"Salute to Vegetables" which
will be held in Wingham on Octo-
ber 23 and 24. Mrs. Derril Hall-
man reported on' the Guelph Area.
Convention which was held in At-
wood. Plans for a visit to Ford-
wich Nursing Home were also
discussed.
The next meeting will be in the
form of a tour of the Heintzman
piano factory in Hanover with all
interested ladies of the com-
munity to meet at the home of
Mrs. Jake Versteeg by 12:15 on
Nov. 6.
