rina, all in Germany. Funeral
service was held Friday at two
o'clock at the S. J. Walker Fun-
eral Home, Wingham. Inter-
ment followed in Brandon

six grandchildren, seven great-
grandchildren and one sister,
Myrtle, Mrs. J. L. Pritchard of
Leamington. She was pre-
deceased by°two brothers.
Service was conducted at 3
o'clock Sunday, September 14, by
Rev. Gordon Cox of Arthur at
Rolufs' Funeral Chapel, Clifford.
Interment was in the Clifford
Cemetery.
Acting as pallbearers • were
Wallace Matthews, Robert Wood,
Jim Chambers, Egan Fehr, Ray
Hinz and Ed Bolton.
The floral tributes were carried

ship, in his 90th year. Surviv-
ing are three daughters, Mrs.
George (Reta) Drehmann of

dies in N. Ont.
A former resident of this area,
James Joseph Mcllrath of RR 1,
Nipissing, Ontario, died Wednes-
day, September 17, at Eastholme,
Powassan, where he had resided
for the past two years. He was in
his 87th year.
Mr. Mcllrath was born Decem-
ber 30, 1888, in Ireland and came
to this country in 1912. He was a
retired inspector with the Tor-
onto Police force. He resided in
Whitechurch from 1941 until 1970
when he moved to Powassan to
live with his daughter.
Mr. Mcllrath was predeceased
by his first wife in 1936. Surviving
dare his second wife, the former

The late Mr. Mcllrath rested at
the Paul Funeral Home, Powas-
san, where service was conduct-
ed in the chapel on Saturday at
two o'clock. Pastor Larry Sulli-
van of the Wesleyan Methodist
Church officiated. Interment took
place in Park Lawn Cemetery,
Toronto, at one o'clock on Mon-
day.

C. Albert Ashley, 68, of Port
Colborne, died at Welland County
General Hospital, Sept_ 13.
Born at Brampton, a son of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Ernest (Ruth)
Ashley he operated a farm in
Fordwich for about 10 years
before moving to Listowel where
he worked for Andrew Malcolm
Furniture Ltd. for two years.
After leaving in 1956 he worked
for various transport companies
as a driver until he retired in
1972.
He was a member of First
presbyterian Church, the
Welland . County Big Brothers
Association of which he was
director and the Sir John Col-
borne Soccer Club where he
coached soccer.
Surviving are: his wife; the
former Margaret Hudson; three
daughters, Mrs. Carl (Florence)
Addison of Willowdale, Mrs.
Edward (Mary) Carr of Port Col-
borne, and Joyce Ashley of Port
Colborne; three sons, Ronald of
Liitowel, Melvin of Port Colborne
and Donald of Willowdale; one
sister, Mrs. Robert (Dorothy)
Whitehead of Port Robinson; two
brothers, .Melvin of Vancouver
and Jack of The Pas, Man.; and
19 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son,
Calvin of Listowel in 1974 and one
sister, Mary Mitchell of Perth.
His body rested at Davidson
Funeral Horne, Port Colborne,
until funeral Sept. 16 by" Rev. J.
Reynolds Elder of First Presby-
terian Church.
Burial was at Pleasantview

Dan Thomson
dies in hospital
The death occurred in Wing -
ham and District Hospital on Fri-
day, September 19 of Donald
(Dan) Thomson , of Lucknow,
aged 56 years. Death followed a
lengthy illness.
Born in Kinloss Township, he
was a son of the late Charles
Thomson and - Ethel Maude
Smith. He was employed by C
and M Transport in Lucknowr
until illness forced him to 'dis-
continue working.
Surviving are his wife, the
f95'ner Agnes Pettigrew; two
daughters, Mrs. Mike (Trudy )
Foran of West Wawanosh and
Mrs. William (Sandra) Boak of
Goderich; four sons, John oil
Winghain, Bruce of Whitechurch,
Rae of Port Colborne and Bill of
Lucknow; 14 grandchildren
three brothers, Jack of North
Bay, Arthur of Goderich and Ar-
nold of Wingham; and six sisters,
Mrs. Dick (Emily) McQuillin of
Kinloss Township, Mrs. Malcolm
(Alice) Stewart of Waterloo, Mrs.
Howard (Winnie) Phillips of
Penticton, B.C., Mrs. Margaret
Stewart of Woodstock, Mrs.
Noreen Pritchard of Lucknow
and Mrs. Al (Doris) Bristow of
Ottawa.
The late Mr. Thomson rested at
the MacKenzie Memorial Chapel,
Lucknow, until Sunday, thence to
St. Peter's Anglican Church
where service was conducted at
two o'clock by Rev. George Gar-
ratt. Interment followed in South
Kinloss Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gordon
Brooks, Omar Brooks, Donald
Caesar, Orland Irwin, Joe Foran
and Ab Murray. Floral tributes
were carried by Jeff Thomson,
Rae Cunningham, Paul McIn-
tyre, Carol Thomson, Donna
Thomson, Michelle Thomson and
David Thomson.
