Mr: and Mrs. Adam Sholdice of Port Alberni, B.C., recently visited with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Wil- liam Black and with her brother Mothers' Aux. first meeting for season Minor 'Hockey representative Paul Rintoul stated that to date, 150 players have registered for hockey, when he spoke to the members of the Mothers' Auxiliary to Wingham Minor Hockey. He was welcomed by President Lois Schistad at the meeting held Tuesday of last week at the arena. Members discussed purchasing bars for executive, coaches, managers, etc., for jackets. A gift of appreciation is to be given to Tom Deyel for auditing the books for last year._ French fries will be a new addi- tion to tlfe menu this year. A letter will be sent to Town Council, asking permission to hold Auxiliary meetings in the council chambers. The next meeting will be held Tuesday, October 14. All in- terested parents are urged to attend. Bowling COFFEE KLATCH The Monday Coffee Klatch girls got off to a good start of bowling this week with 33 bowlers. Diane English started off the season with a single of 268. Diane and Shirley Storey tied for the high double of 429. and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Nethery. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Van Camp, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Van Camp, Mr1 and Mrs. Clare Van Camp, of the Belgrave area, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Harris of Teeswater; and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth' John- ston of Victoria, B,C., spent the weekend with their sister, Mrs. Norma Davidson of Glencoe. Mr. and Mrs. George Rabb and Michael of London and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Campbell, also of Lon- don, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. -Harold Jardin and Michael. Miss Marjory Procter of Sarnia spent a few days last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Procter. Mr. and Mrs. John McCor- mack, Christie and Eimile of Orangeville, and Mrs. Claire Rainer `of Scarborough spent the weekend with their ,mother, Mrs. Clarence Chamney and attended the Thompson and Haggit wed- ding on Saturday in Donnybrook United Church. Mrs. Robert Higgins, Mrs. Roy Locos win King trophy The Ladies' Doubles Tourna- ment for the King ,Trophy was held at the Wingham Lawn Bowl- ing Club on Wednesday, Septem- ber 10, at 10:30 a.m, Entries from Atwood, Goder- ich, Lucknow and Wingham took part in the competition. The ladies' president, Mrs. Rena Fisher, welcomed the ladies and despite rather inclement weather in the morning there was wonder- ful weather in the afternoon. One game was played in the morning and a pot luck lunch was enjoyed at noon: Two games were played in the afternoon. Mrs. Fisher presented the trophy and first prize to the win- ners, Miss Yvonne McPherson, skip, and Mrs. Ethel Day, lead, with three wins and a plus of 38 and overplus of one. The other prize winners were ' second, Mrd. Wilma Kerr and Mrs. Audrey MacKay, who were defending the trophy; three wins and a plus of 36; third, Mrs. Mary Lloyd and Mrs. Rena Fisher; fourth, Mrs. Helen Allison and Mrs. Esther Brady, Goderich, fifth, Mrs, Jewell Westbrook and Mrs. Mary Rouse of Goderit"h . Pattison and Mrs. Jack Marks o and Steven visited on Saturday with Mrs. Joe Spicer and family of Stratford who leave on Tues- day morning to join her husband in Central Africa. Mr. Spicer is teaching there for two years. Belmore Mr. and Mrs. George Harkness of Goderich visited this past week with Mr. and' Mrs. Robert Hark- ness and family. Miss Stella Renwick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Renwick of Teeswater, and Doug Baird, son of Mr. and Mrs. ettussel Baird of RR 2, Wingham were united in marriage on Saturday, Septem- ber 5 in the Teeswater United, Church. Harvey Darling ,of RR 1, Wroxeter, Paul Dahms and his father of Mildn ay toured along the east coast of the United States returning home September 13. On Tuesday, September 9, the McIntosh United Church junior choir members helped with a program for the senior citizens of Brucelea Haven nursing home, Walkerton. They sang the songs "Amazing Grace" accompanied by Barbara Harkness on the accordion and the other song, "It's a Long Road to Freedom". Andy Renwick also gave a solo on the violin, called "Bless This House", accompanied by his mother on the piano, Mrs. Walter Renwick. As part of the 50 Years of Union of the United Church celebration, the three congregations of Mild- may, McIntosh and Belmore held their church service at the United Church Camp at Silver Lake. The service was conducted by the Rev. William Lake. A pot luck dinner, races and games followed the service. THE BAKER'S DOZEN Nine girls answered the roll call, 'a basic ingredient of bread and what it does', at the second meeting. Rhea Behrns read the minutes of the previous meeting and the girls discussed their book covers. Mrs. Behrns led a discussion on bread techniques and talked about baked bread and rolls.
