FORDWICH — The general meeting of the United Church Women was held in the Sunday School room on Thursday --af- ternoon. The theme of the meeting was "Stewardship". The worship service was taken by Mrs. Elmer Harding and Mrs. Melvin Penny. They developed the theme, "Individual Responsi- bility"; under several headings: action, time, words, ways, our works, our life. Mrs. Harding read appropriate scripture and Mrs. Penny gave the comments. Mrs. Penny read a poem and Mrs. Harding led in prayer.' Mrs. Stanley, Bride was in charge of the program, her topic being "Stewardship — An Ex- perience in Sharing". The act of penitence was presented by six ladies: A shut in speaks, Mrs. Ken Graham; an ex -convict speaks, Mrs. Wray Cooper ; a Canadian Indian speaks, Mrs. George Pittendreigh; an un- developed country speaks, `Mrs. Wallace Bilton; a coloured person speaks, Mrs. C. Sotheran; a prisoner speaks, Mrs. James Warrell. Mrs. Bride read an article, "You Can Take It with You" and a poem "God's Batik". A skit, "A Clothes Closet" was presented in which the voices for the discarded dresses were Mrs. Scott Clarkson and Miss Minnie McElwain. Mrs. Scott Clarkson, UCW president, presided for the business period. Roll call was stewardship. The UCW voted to enter an exhibit at the Howick Fair. A fowl supper was planned for October 28. 'the Regional Rally will be held in the Kurtz- ville church on Wednesday, October 22, 7 p.m. A new study book kit will be ordered. Mrs. Clarkson closed the meeting with the benediction.
