Rev. William Parker officiated
and Jim Brown of Port Colborne
was the organist. Miss Linda
Martin of Fordwlch, soloist, sang
"We've Only Just Begun" during
the signing of the register. The
organ prelude was "Walk Hand
in Hand" and "May Each Day"
was played as the recessional.
Peter King, brother of the bride,

altar candles and two candles on
either side of the Trinity 'candle.

in floor -length halter -style gowns
of pistachio mint jersey. Matey►= ".
Inc gathered bolero jackets had
covered buttons and Juliet
sleeves. They wore gold crones,
gifts from the bride, and allied
bouquets of white Figi mmnus,
yellow buttom mums, baby's
' breath and fern.
The flower girl, Miss Patti
D'Arcey of Fordwich, Wore a
similarly -styled gown ' and
carried a basket of yellow and
white daisies. She also wore a
gold cross, the gift of the bride.
Dave Brunarski.of Toronto was
his brother's best man and ushers
were Terry Tudan of Ford ieh,
cousin of the groom, Peter King,
brother of the bride, and John
Brunarski, brothel of the grOm,
of . Port Colborne. The bride's
cousin, Gary King of Harriston,
was ring bearer. The bride's
father and the groom's atten-
dants wore brown Windsor -style
tuxedos with dark brown velvet
trim and mint green shirts;
Diumer was served at 6:30 4
the Fiowick Community etre
where the bride* ' t#able was
centred with a three -tiered
wedding cake and white candies
with orange and green. Baby's
breath centred all the tables.
Dave Brunarski was master of
ceremonies and Rev. E. C. Att-
well of Ottawa led in the table
grace. A reception followed at
8:30.
The bride's mother wore a
floor -length gown of printed
nylon in shades of peach, yellow
and gold, styled with a mushroom
skirt and bolero jacket. She wore
yellow and white accessories and
a cymbidium orchid corsage. The
groom's mother chose a floor -
length gown of sh ikup-t:olooed
satin -lined polyester crepe. The
bodice of the drest:v was beaded
and she wore a cyrabidium cor-
sage.
For travelling to Ottawa and
the eastern states, the bride
chose a two-piece rust and white
new -length dress with rust ac-
cessories and a cymbidium or-
chid corsage. They will reside in
Waterloo where the groom at-
tends university. The bride is
employed in the office of Home
Hardware, St. Jacobs.
Out-of-town guests attended the
wedding from Wingham, Kitch-
ener, Harriston, Listowel,
Goderich, Hanover, Toronto,
Hamilton, Agincourt, Welland,
Fenwick, Mississauga, Port Col-
borne, Ottawa, Warren, Michi-
gan, and Buffalo, New York.
Honored guests were the bride's
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
James Fitch of Wingham, and the
groom's grandmother, .Mrs.
George Tudan of Port Colborne.

of Whifechurch showers
WHITECHURCH — The local
Community Memorial Hall has
been the scene of some happy ac-
tivity lately as brides-to-be have
been 'honored at separate
showers.
On August 8, a shower was held
in honor of Mary Lou Adams
when Mrs. John deBoer presided
over an evening of fun and enter;
tainment.° While - the crowd was
gatheiringadm Don,ltoss Played
several musical numbers. Tht
bride was accompanied to her
place of honor by her sisters,
Janet and Andrea, who later as-
sisted with the gifts.
Miss Lori Jamieson gave a
reading, "The Old Bachelor's
Sale", and Mrs. Jim deBoer and
Mrs. Martin conducted interest-
ing contests. Community singing
was enjoyed with Mrs. Ross at
the piano. Mrs. Millan Moore
entertained with two reading, "A
Recipe for a Happy Home" and
"When Pa Counts'.
Mrs. Jim deBoer read an ad-
dress and the gifts were pre-
sented by Colleen, Dawn and
Stephanie Adams. Among the
gifts displayed were chinaware,
plaques, linens, an ironing board
and electrical appliances. The
mothers decorate& a wedding
cake with the bows.
Last Friday evening, Ruth El-
liott was honored by a similar
event. The ' hall was decorated
with pink, white and blue
streamers and the table was en-
hanced with parasols trimmed
with pink, blue and white
rosettes.
Mrs. Victor Emerson presided
for the program. Wendy Forster
and Brenda Forster sang a duet
with Mrs. Jack Forster as piano
accompanist. Lori Purdon con-
ducted an alphabet contest.
Participating in a mock wed-
ding, which proved very humor-
ous and„.entertaining, were Mrs.
Bill Gibson, • Mrs. Jack Forster,
Mrs. Dan Tiffin, Mrs. Clarence
Ritchie, Mrs. Don Ross, Mrs.
Wallace Conn and Mrs. Ronald
Forster. Kathy Purdon con-
ducted contests and clothespin
messages, which each person
wore, were read by Miss Elliott.
Mrs. Emerson then read a
short address to Ruth after which
the gifts were opened. Assisting
Ruth were a public school friend,
Karen Rivett, and a college
friend, Mrs. Elaine Armstrong.
Kathy Purdon, Gayle Rintoul and
Jane Laidlaw also helped with
the gifts. Little Karen Elliott
looked after the bows.
Among the gifts received were
linens, blankets, dishes, • elec-
trical appliances and kitchen-
ware.
Both the brides expressed
thanks for the special evenings
planned to honor them. Lunch
was served at the close of the
evenings' entertainment.
Open House will be held at the
Elliott home on August 30.

Harris-Lumb exchange
Margaret Mary Lumb of Ot-
tawa and John Arthur Harris
-both of Ottawa exchanged
marriage vows at Fordwich
United Church Aug. 16. She is the
daughter of Mrs. Margaret Wilde
and the late Joseph Wilde of
Wythenshawe, Eng. and he is the
son of Mrs. Eva Harris and the
late Clarence Harris of Ford-
wich. .
Rev. John Stinson officiated
and Soloist Howard Harris, uncle
of the groom of Goderich was
accompanied by organist Nadine
Carswell of Port Elgin.
The church was decorated with
baskets of yellow gladioli and
shasta daisies. The bride was
given in marriage by her uncle
Jack Powell.
She wore a dotted yellow swiss
dress with eyelet cap sleeves and

lead meeting
The Women's Missionary
Society of St. Andrew's Presby-
terian Church • Winglitim, held its
nionibly meeting fn Hie fellow-
ship hall on August 12. The Home
Helpers were in charge . of the
meeting.
The president, Mrs. R. H. Arm-
strong, opened the meeting with
the call to worship. An opening
hymn was sung and Mrs. Arm-
strong conducted the business.
Gifts were received to be sent to
the psychiatric hospital.
Mrs. J. McKague read the
scripture from Psalm 34 and the
meditation was found in the Glad
Tidings. Mrs. H. Aitchison led in
prayer.
The offering was received by
Miss Agnes Williamson and dedi-
cated by Mrs. J. Currie.
Following the singing of a
hymn, Mrs. Armstrong intro-
duced Mrs. TenPas who outlined
her work at Brookhaven. She was
thanked and encouraged in her
good work, by Mrs. W. Congram.
The meeting was closed by
singing a hymn .and Miss Leah
Currie led in closing prayer. A
social hour was enjoyed by all.
