Brophy Brothers slow -pitch
ball team broke out of a six -game
losing streak with a roar last
week, bombing Baden 14-5 in
Baden and then shocking Welles-
ley 16-9 on the local diamond in
one of the best games of the year.
Wellesley recently won the an-
nual Wellesley, Queen's Hotel
Invitational slow -pitch tourna-
ment by virtue of 'a stunning
victory over ever -powerful Mit-
chell.
Brophy's dropped two straight
in the Wellesley Tourney and
their subsequent victories over
Baden and Wellesley have put
them in good shape again in the
league's Northern Division.
Over Baden 14-5
Bob Foxton led the locals
against Baden who are near the
top of their division in the WOAA
Slow Pitch Southern Division,
connecting for four hits and scor-
ing four runs. Brad Coleman,
Gary Storey and Ken Saxton had
a trio of hits with Saxton con-
tributing a homer. Ed Diechert
had two hits and Dick Eskerod,
Gerry Edwards and Gord Wel-
wood one each with Welwood
going the distance on the mound
for the win.
Brophy's put this one on ice
early, plating five runs in the
second inning and three more in
the third. Baden went scoreless
until the fifth . when they got one.
In the eighth and ninth frames,
Baden scored twice and Brophy's
came right back With four more
in their half of the ninth. •
Over Wellesley 16-9
In their finest game of the
season before a big local crowd,
Brophy's put it all together to
come from behind an 8-0 score ih
the second inning to take a 10-8
lead at the end of the fourth in-
ning and the coast home against
the powerful Wellesley outfit.
Gord Welwood had solid sup-
port from the Brophy fielders in
this one and only gave up one
more run after Wellesley's eight -
run second inning. The locals
padded their 10-8 lead with five in
the sixth and another one in the
seventh to send Wellesley home
with only their second loss of the
year.
Providing the power at the
plate for Brophy's • were Dick
Eskerod with four hits, Gerry
Edwards, Brad Coleman, Bob.
Foxton and Gary Storey wit
three each, Ken Saxton, Ed
Deicliert, Bruce F'oxton and Gord
Welwood with two each and Glen
Casemore with one safety. Ed-
wards and Storey poked home-
runs to add three runs batted, in
apiece.
Manager Ed Bauer can breathe`
a bit easier now that the Brophy
bunch seem to be back to their
former winning form.

Basically, good dental health
consists of prevention and control
of dental disease. This involves
two basic areas, home care and
the efforts of a community.
Correct brushing habits and the
frequent use of mouth washes
and dental flos0 are extremely
important if dental disease is to
be prevented.
Proper nutrition is no less im-
portant. Maintenance of good
dental health is dependent upon
sound diets and dietary manage-
ment. Coarse foods which require
thorough chewing are the best
from a dental standpoint; be-
cause they do not stick to the
teeth and they provide exercise
and stimulation for the teeth and
gums.
The pros and cons of fluoridat-
ing community water supplies
have been debated to a great ex-
tent in recent -years.
