Anne Murray did. She was one of
30 to become new ilembers. Also
among the list of names was Jean
Gascon, former- artistic director
of the Stratford Festival, and
Pierre Juneau, chairman of the
Canadian Radio -Television Com-
mission. A real honor for the little
gal from Nova Scotia who
thought she was going to be a
physical education teacher!
But as if that wasn't enough,
word leaked out that, very quietly
at her home in Toronto, she had
married Bill Langstroth. Head
back to the days of "Singalong
Jubilee" when banjo-strummin'
Bill led the chorus. One new girl
who said she was an alto singer,
ended up singing in the bass sec-
tion, she had such a low boice. In
fact, she didn't even make it on
the show until the second season.
But the deep richness of her
voice lent itself well to the folk
ballads and before long, she was
singing solos. Langstroth became
producer of the show and the bass
singer went on to be a star. Now,
years later, star and producer
have joined forces again, this
time to become husband and
wife.
Ther whole thing was a deep
dark secret which, I guess
proves, that in Canada, even if
you're a star yoti can have your
privacy, if you want it badly
enough. Don't be surprised if pro-
ducer Bill gets Anne her owri,\

and live a normal life.

The Cana'dlan Radio -Television Commission annii"nrKIK
the following decision effective July 4,1975.
Decision CRTC 75.250
AM AND FM LICENCE RENEWALS
In its Public Announcement published today, ;the Com-
mission
oirirtimission indicated that the FM. implementation hearings•
would commence in December 1975 and would be held
regionally vlrher'ever possible.
The Commission has decided to consider the renewal of
AM broadcasting licences expiring in the early part of
1976 at the same time as it hears applications.: for the
issue, amendment or renewal of licences, for FM broad
casting stations. Most of these licences eicplre on March
31, 1976.
The Cnission considers that the period between
December 1975, when the hearings commence, and
March 31, 1976 does not provide .sufficient time lo con-/
sider both AM and FM broadcasting licence applicatiOnst
The Commission, therefore, issues a renewal' •licence .
expiring September 30, 1976 for the following AM broad;
casting station:
AM
CKNX Wingham CKNX Broadcasting Limited
These licences are issued on the basis of'the , presently
approved applications and subject to the same conditions.
