The board of directors of the
Southwestern Ontario Travel As-
sociation announces the appoint-
ment of W. F. Morgan as man-
ager.
Spence Cummings, the presi-
dent of the association, outlined
• Mr. Morgan's background in
tourist development and pro-
motion. Several years ago he was
active with the Alberta Tourist
Council. This included the ad-
ministration of a Regional Travel
Association similar to the South-
western Ontario Travel Associa-
tion. In 1967 Bill Morgan moved

and industrial development. •
When the ministry of industry
and tourism formed 12 travel as-
.socia.tions throughout the
province in 1974 Mr. Morgan was
the Stratford representative on
the board of directors of the
Southwestern Ontario Travel As-
sociation. He has many years. ex-
perience in association manage-
ment and an intimate knowledge
of the concepts and objectives of
regional tourist promotion.
The Southwestern Ontario
Travel Association covers the'
eight counties of Elgin, Essex,
Huron, Kent, Lambton; Middle-
sex, Oxford, and Perth. The
objective of the association is to
co-ordinate the efforts of all
municipalities, community
organizations and the private
sector to promote and develop the
visitor trade in the area.

J. Smith of Arthur was elected
president when the Lake Huron
Southern Zone Senior Citizens
met in Wingham on Thursday of
last week. Miss Ruth Johnson of
Fordwich was elected vice-presi-
dent. Mrs. Olive May of Gorrie is
treasurer and Mrs. H. Coupland
of Wroxeter is secretary.
Members of the Wingham Club
were hosts to representatives
from nine other clubs in the dis-
trict: Three district clubs were
not represented: Jim Ward of
Wingham acted as co-chairman
in the absence of Bud Bitton of
Hanover.
Plans were made for a Zone
picnic to be held in the Wingham
Park on August 6: an executive
meeting to be held on July 4 in
Fordwich beginning at 10 a.m.;
also a fall rally to be held in
Arthur on October 16, beginning
at 10 a.m.
As there are more than 40 clubs
now in the original Zone 9, it has
been found necessary to divide it
into three zones. hence the form-
ing of the new Lake Huron
Southern Zone.
