AUNT, MPP FOR HURON -BRUCE
Report from Qyeen's Park
gauge in the Theatres Act
by the Minister of
►fir and Commercial Re-
4ti Sidney Handleman last
Will permit sex films shown
On Video tape or 8 millimetre film
to come under the eye of Ontario
eensors.
The move closes the loophole in
the Act that allows theatres,
mostly, in Toronto ii show uncen-
sored films. The film censors will
also havetontrol over the 25 cent
"peep show" machines.
Mr. Handleman considered
another amendment he intro-
duced to be important as well. It
allows the Province to require
film distributors to make Ca a-
dian films available and to set a
quota "on a monthly or yearly
basis".
The Canadian quota provision
replaces a similar clause that al-
lowed Ontario to demand a cer-
tain proportion of : ritish films.
That provision was never used
according to Mr. Hanm ieman,
and it will be some time before
the Government is ready to re-
quire film exhibitors to show
Canadian films.
Bill 100, an Act respecting the
negotiation of Collective Agree-
ments between School Boards
and Teachers commonly refer-
red to as the Teachers' ,:ail, re-
ceived second reading. The I:ill
permits teachers to strike, but
provides for a number of innova-
tive and new concepts in the col-
lective bargaining process.
Generally, the bill's provisions
dealing with the fact finding pro-
cedures, final offer selection, the
Education Relations Commis-
sion, the deadline for starting ne-

Agriculture on Display at
O.A.C. Farm Week '75
From crops to livestock and
from turf to fruits and vege-
tables, Ontario agricultural re-
search will be on display July 8, 9
and 10, 1975 at the two OAC
Research Stations at Elora and
near Cambridge (Preston). Both
the Elora Research Station and
the Cambridge Research Station
will be open from 10 a.m. to 3
p.m. daily, with tours, •educa-
tional exhibits and. demonstra-
tions highlighting OAC Farm
Week '75.
The Cambridge station special-
izes in turf, fruit and vegetable
production, as well as environ-
mental studies in pollution, in-
sects and plant diseases. The
Elora station is the focal point of
the Ontario Agricultural Col-
lege's research in soils, field
crops, weather studies, dairy and
beef work.
A special display at the Elora
Research Station will feature
manure management systems
and the commercial manure -
handling equipment that is
presently available to producers.
Visitors can take hour-long
wagon and bus tours of the sta-
tions to see the various research
projects. Faculty from the On-
tario Agricultural College in
Guelph will guide visitors
through the stations, arid will ex-
plain the research underway `at
both locations.
For those who cannot( attend
during OAC Farm Week ,'75, the
College will be holding Urban
Day, an open -house, at the Elora
Research Station on Saturday,
July 12, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
General tours of the Dairy Cattle
and Beef Cattle Centres and the
crops and soils research areas
highlight the afternoon program.
Staff will be on hand to explain
the work taking place and answer
any questions.
Families are invited to come
ot to the research stations to see
the agricultural studies being
conducted: The Cambridge Re-
search Station is just southwest

strikes have met with favourable

The other contentious issue haa
to do with voluntary or extra Cu►
ricular activities. The Bill would
place the activities as contracty-
al or negotiable items, but the
teachers want them to remain: 08
a voluntary part of their .work.

IF YOU COUNT THEM, there are more butterflies on the
wall than patients in the emergency room waiting lounge of
the Wingham and District Hospital, but it's crowded either
of the Waterloo -Wellington Air-
port. The. Elora Research Station
is about two and ondhalf miles
south of Elora. Parking is free.
Visitors can bring their own
