The Wingham Advance-Times, 1975-06-26, Page 2ace -renes, Thursday, June. 260 4975 AUNT, MPP FOR HURON -BRUCE Report from Qyeen's Park gauge in the Theatres Act by the Minister of ►fir and Commercial Re- 4ti Sidney Handleman last Will permit sex films shown On Video tape or 8 millimetre film to come under the eye of Ontario eensors. The move closes the loophole in the Act that allows theatres, mostly, in Toronto ii show uncen- sored films. The film censors will also havetontrol over the 25 cent "peep show" machines. Mr. Handleman considered another amendment he intro- duced to be important as well. It allows the Province to require film distributors to make Ca a- dian films available and to set a quota "on a monthly or yearly basis". The Canadian quota provision replaces a similar clause that al- lowed Ontario to demand a cer- tain proportion of : ritish films. That provision was never used according to Mr. Hanm ieman, and it will be some time before the Government is ready to re- quire film exhibitors to show Canadian films. Bill 100, an Act respecting the negotiation of Collective Agree- ments between School Boards and Teachers commonly refer- red to as the Teachers' ,:ail, re- ceived second reading. The Elora station is the focal point of the Ontario Agricultural Col- lege's research in soils, field crops, weather studies, dairy and beef work. A special display at the Elora Research Station will feature manure management systems and the commercial manure - handling equipment that is presently available to producers. Visitors can take hour-long wagon and bus tours of the sta- tions to see the various research projects. Faculty from the On- tario Agricultural College in Guelph will guide visitors through the stations, arid will ex- plain the research underway `at both locations. For those who cannot( attend during OAC Farm Week ,'75, the College will be holding Urban Day, an open -house, at the Elora Research Station on Saturday, July 12, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. General tours of the Dairy Cattle and Beef Cattle Centres and the crops and soils research areas highlight the afternoon program.
