INDUSTRIAL
SLOW -PITCH BALL
_Lai. week tie, final orlaniza-
tional meeting of the Industrial
Slow -Pitch League was held at
the arena. Industrial fast -ball
' ed three years ago. Slow -pitch
has come into its own lately with
those who used to play fastball
and no longer can hit the fast -
pitched balls.
The four teams in the league
are Turnberry Tavern, Sports-
men's Association, Police and
Stanley Door Systems.
The rules are basically the
same as those for softball except
for a few minor differences:
1. There is an extra man on the
team — a fourth fielder.
2. Stealing bases is not per-
mitted,
3. No bunting when at bat.
The league will play each Mon-
day night with doubleheaders'at 7
and 9 p.m. Let's hope this league
will provide good recreational
sport as it is supposed to do.
WATER SAFETY
The time of year is approach-
ing when we must think more of
water safety ... the time of year
when young ones spend more
time in the water. Will you and
your family be involved in swim-
ming lessons this summer?
The registration forms will be
available through the schools
again this year. The courses will
be set up on a first-come, first-
served basis through the mails.
No one will be left out of the pro-
gram. If you prefer a particular
"time you should so indicate. If
you are coming in from out of
town and will be sharing tran-

COACHES ANYWHERE?
We still need help with Bantam
and Midget baseball, particularly
coaches and managers. - With
travelling so much easier in
summer than in the Winter
months, it is hard to imagine why
some believe that travelling is a
problem.
GIRLS' BALL — At present
Diane Grove is looking for help
with one of the girls' teams. We
have Peewee and Bantam teams.
LADIES' BALL—Intermediate
ladies are looking for recruits to
play ladies' softball. If you are
interested in participating call
Mrs. Jim Steffler at 357-1184.
POOL — The pool will open on
the June 14 weekend. .It is being
cleaned up now and lines will be
painted before filling. We find a
myriad of creatures in it each
spring, usually frogs. This year
we even found a squirrel that
couldn't quite make ' it out.
Be water wise. Be safety con-
scious. Be sure your child learns
to swim. Register early!
