items made from bread dough.
Their record books and recipes
were also on disptay. Miss Wendy
Kay gave her talk on "A Table
Set for Two". She pointed out
that, in the setting of a table,
linens, china, glass and flatware
are important.
The president, Miss Merle
Wilson, opened the meeting with
the Ode and Collect and a wel-
come to the 4-H girls and their
leaders. The secretary -treasurer,
Mrs. George Fisher, read the
minutes and gave the financial
report. Correspondence included
a thank you letter from the Wing -
ham Hospital Auxiliary for
homemade candy which realized
$17.93 for them.
Fun Day International will be
Wednesday, June 11, with anyone
wishing to go urged to contact
Mrs. Fisher. An invitation was.
also received from Bluevale for
May 29.

Mrs. Doris Pletch of Walker-
ton, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hohn -
stein of Clifford and Mrs. Elmer
Harding returned home last week
after attending the funeral of
their uncle, Henry Pfeffer, at
Elbow, Sask They also called on
Mrs. Eunice Harris in Saskatoon.

Lorraine and Carolyn attended •
the Arabian Horse Fair and the
Sale of Horses for All Season,
held in Louisville, Kentucky, May
8-11. '
Mr. and Mrs. James Warrell,
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mullens of
Aylmer, Quebec and Mr. and
Mrs. Noah Ries visited with rela-
tives in Hanover Sunday after-
noon.
The first Fordwich Scouts and
Cubs wish to thank everyone for
saving their papers but since

Garnet Farrier, Readings were
given by Mrs. Lorne Durnin and
Mrs. Johnston Conn, "The Day 1
Learned I'd Never Be a Far-
mer", from the Village Squire.
The .meeting . closed' with the
president giving courtesy
remarks, singing of "The Queen"
and the Institute Grace. Lunch
was served by Mrs. John Currie,
Mrs. Fisher .:and Miss Merle
Wilson.
Guild meets at
Zimmerman home
GORRIE — "Where Gardens
Grow" was the opening poem
given by Mrs. Roland Bennett
when St. Stephen's Guild met at
the home of Mrs. Harry Zimmer-
man for the monthly meeting.
Mrs. Kelly Crowe was in
charge of devotions and roll call,
a stamped greeting card, was
answered by 17 members. The
collection amounted to $5.15.
Mrs. Bennett also gave a brief
report on the Chamber of Com-
merce supper and ladies' night.

Plans for the bus trip to London.
on June 5 were finalized. The
Guild members will be in charge
of the June 1 church draw.
Sanford Zimmerman made ,the
..draw for the quilt which was won
by Mrs. Olive May. Mrs. William
Bennett auctioned plants, slips
and baking donated by members.
Lunch was served by Mrs:

THERE WAS A FLOWER for her mother and a hearty hug for her father when Alice Val-
kenburg of Clinton presented her thanks to her parents for helping her throughout the 35 -
week nursing assistant's course. Twenty-two girls completed the co and received dip-
lomas last Friday.
MRS. J. FIELDING, director of the Wingham and District Hospital Training Centre,
leads the 1975 graduating class of nursing assistants in the "Nursing Assistant's Pledge"
during graduation ceremonif"s at the centre last Friday.

WHITECIiURCH—On May 14
the Women's Missionary Society
met at the home -of Mrs. Andrew
Gaunt. Mrs. William Rintoul,
president, opened the meeting
with a record given by Mrs.
Gaunt. The hymn `For the
Beauty of the; Earth" was sung
with pianist Mrs. Gaunt accom-
panying. The scripture was read
in unison.
..Mrs. Gordon Rintoul gavel a
reading. • - •,
Miss Annie Laidlaw gave a
prayer prepared by Mrs. Walter
Elliott. The minutes were read by
Mrs. Gordon Rintoul. The roll
call was answered by naming a
flower or seed of the Bible by
sevenembers and a .visitor.
The offering was received and
dedicated.
Mrs. Wesley Tiffin gave a read-
ing, "Everybody Loves Flow-
ers", an article- on COC work
comparing the important place
adults have in teaching the tiny
child
'Mrs. Earl Caslick gave a read-
ing "Visitors", on the attitude
people leave with a patient`after
their visit.
Hymn "Breathe on Me Breath°
of, God" was sung and the topic
was given by Mrs. Bill Rintat
"Gardens".
Mrs. Don Ross extended an
invitation to the group for the
June meeting. Arrangements
were made for the work meeting
to clean the church and the lunch
for anniversary Sunday.
