Mr. and Mrs. BM Ma .47 H a and J'mm. of London were Sunday guests with Mr. and Mrs. Crosby Sotheran. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Simmons and Ken, and Mrs. Roy Simmons spent Saturday in Kitchener. Mr. and Mrs. Parker Eurig returned home over the weekend after a two-week holiday in Florida. Terry Clarkson and friends of Toronto spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Scott Clarkson. Mrs. Norman Harding was pleasantly surprised on Sunday when about 50 relatives held a turkey dinner in honor of her 80th birthday in the community hall, Fordwich. Guests attended from Arthur, Listowel, London, Toronto, Wingham, Clifford, • Fordwich and Harriston. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Bride and children of Thamesford visited with their parents one evening last week. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Sothern, Gordon Sothern, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Shannon and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Weber were guests Saturday at the Cronin -Ott wedding in St. Columban- R. C. Church and a reception followed in the Seaforth Legion Hall. Gordon Sothern was an usher for his cousin's wedding. Sunday visitors with Lou Matthews and ,Mel Batters were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Morse of Molesworth and Mr. and Mrs. Burns Stewart of Gorrie. • Mrs. Anne Armstrong spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Larry Cowan in Palmerston. Mr. and Mrs. Austin Zoeller of New Hamburg visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Stan Bride. Senior Citizens attend festival FORDWICH — The Senior Citizens began their April meet- ing early when 39 members gathered to attend the Maple Syrup Festival at Belmore and enjoy a supper of pancakes, maple syrup and sausages. After the supper they met in the community hall here for their monthly meeting. It was decided to have a card party on April 11 with an admis- sion charge, lunch provided and everyone welcome. Some utensils for the kitchen and washrooms were discussed /and a committee appointed to buy same, as well as etgge store folding card tables. Stock taking of the kitchen will be done and a report brought to the next meeting. Bingo, cards and crockinole were enjoyed for the remainder of the evening. Seniors' euchre • FORDWICH —. The Senior Citizens held a 'Very successful euchre party in the community hall here on Friday. There were • 28 tables playing and 121 people present. The prize winners were as follows: High man, Fred Porter; low man, Austin Stinson; high lady, Mrs. M. Honeyford of Listo- wel ; isto- wel; low lady,' Mrs. Dustow. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Stewart and Greg visited over the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Patterson in Toronto. Mis. Glenn Johnston, Mrs. Jim Douglas and Gary attended the Hackney dinner and dance at the Holiday Inn, Cambridge, on Saturday night. John Fairclough of Newton, New Jersey, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Glenn John- ston. Mr. and Mrs. Ira Schaefer arrived home over the weekend after spending the past four months in Florida. The service of holy baptism was held Saturday afternoon in Trinity Anglican Church when Rev. W. Parker baptized David William Martin, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Martin of Scar- borough. David is the grandson of Mr. ant Mrs. Peter Browne. Later a'buffet lunch was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Browne. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Angus Martin and family of Toronto, Miss Marie Browne of Toronto, Ted Browne of, London, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Strong and family of Gorrie, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Knoblauch of Listowel, Mr. and Mrs. Hector Browne and Mrs. Marian 'Kirby of Fordwich. BEI,GRAVE"III The'third meeting was held on April- 7, at 7 p.m. in the com- rit'unity centre. The meeting began with the pledge and motto. Brenda Nefhery led the roll call, which was to show the patterns and material for the blouses. Janice Coultes read the minutes of the last meeting. Mrs. James Bakelaar talked about what clothes one should wear for different seasons. Mrs. Robert Gordon discussed ward- robe harmony and combining dif- W ferent colors. with brown. - The girls answered a few ques- tions about the following sub- jects, suit the occasion, wardrobe harmony, cutting and marking and using a pattern. The leaders explained how to prepare the material for cutting. Janice Coultes and Joann Bakelaar demonstrated how to make the material grain perfect. Mrs. Gordon demonstrated how to shorten and lengthen the shoulder of a blouse. Janice Sanders demonstrated how to tack a dart. MRS.
