Holland bulb to honor
Royal Canadian Legion
Once again the people of
Holland are expressing the
feelirfgs of friendships that were
made in World War II, their
gratitude to the Canadian sol-
diers who liberated them and to
the Canadian people for giving
shelter to their Queen and Royal
family.
The year 1976- is the Golden
Anniversary of the Royal Cana-
dian Legion and to mark this
occasion the Bulb Growers of
Holland have created a new tulip
called the Royal Canadian
Legion. The Queen of Holland has
sent thio letter:
From Her Majesty Queen Juli-
ana of the Netherlands to The
Royal Canadian Legion:
"It is with great pleasure that I
take the opportunity of the Gold-
en Anniversary of the Royal
Canadian Legion, firstly, to con-
gratulate you all on the memo-
rable occasion and to express the
wish that the Legion may for
many more years successfully
continue its valuable work.
-The rulifnh porkpies Motor ft
heartfelt and deep gratitude for
your unforgettable share in
liberating our country at the cost
of heavy sacrifices, and nay
family and myself feel a thankful
affection for the Canadian people
because of their heartwarming
hospitality during ` those dark
years of the war.
"On this special occasion I
should like to put into words a
heartfelt wish that the following
generations all over the world
will be prepared and susceptible
to be taught by the lessons of
those troubled years, now almost
casually known as World' War II,
that they will clearly see the
example of those who fought and
often died, of toe people who
acted, and never even thought of
refraining, for it is my fervent
hope that those horrors will never
again occur.
"May ft be given to you, to keep
the torch of peace and justice
burning and aloft."
Juliana R.
It is the aim of the Legion to
have these bulbs grown right
across Canada and in bloom for
1976. The bulbs will be available
for fall planting in 1975:' The only
way these bulbs can be obtained
is through the Legion branches.
The tulips are of a golden color
on stems 20 -to -24 inches high.
Anvnnp in the Wingham area
wanting information on these
bulbs should contact Ian Edward
357-1516, Ken Simmons 357-1045
or But Morin :157 1 cr by

Legion 357-2128. Any orders for
these bulbs must be in by April
