Resurrection hope stressed
at Chalmers WMS meeting
WHITECHURCH — The
glorious message of the resurrec-
tion was the topic given- by Mrs.
Victor Emerson when the Chal-
mers Women's Missionary
Society met at -her home at two
o'clock on the afternoon of Wed-
nesday, March 19.
Mrs. Emerson reflected on the
three-year ministry of Jesus,
when He spoke words of salva-
tion, comfort, assurance and
victory. She . spoke of Jesus'
second coming when our bodies
will be fashioned like unto His
glorious body. "What will the
resurrected bodies be like?", she
said, "Paul told the Corinthians
they will not be flesh and blood.
In Matthew's Gospel, we read
that in the resurrection they
neither marry nor are given in
marriage but are as angels of
God in heaven." - •
"Easter brings a reassurance'
that God is real, that He lives and
His Hand is on the helm of the
universe," she said.
In closing, the speaker urged
her listeners to follow the Lord,
though it may mean sacrifice.
"May we nevem crucify Jesus by
not attending church, never
giving to missionary appeal,
being indifferent or neglectful,
unwillingness to change your
little part of the world or
cowardly silence," she said.
The president, Mrs. William
Rintoul, opened the meeting with
a thought for Easter. An Easter
hymn was sung with Mrs. An-
drew Gaunt accompanying.
Scripture, from St. Matthew's
Gospel, was read by all, '
"What the Lord's Prayer
Really Means" was read insix
parts by Mrs. Don Ross, Mrs.
Earl Caslick, Mrs,; Wallace Conn,
Mrs. Andrew Gaunt, Mrs. Wesley
Tiffin 'and Mrs. W. R.. Purdon.
Mrs. Rintoul led in prayer and
Mrs. Tiffin gave a reading, "The
Beautiful Snow". Following the
singing of another hymn, Mrs.
Gaunt gave a reading, "Easter".
The roll call, a verse containing
the word `cross', was answered
by 14 and minutes were read by
the secretary, Mrs. Dawson
Craig. Offering was received and
dedicated by Mrs. Craig and the
treasurer's report was given by
Mrs. Emerson for Mrs. Wallace
Milligan.
The closing hymn, "Rejoice!
