The death occurred in the
Wingham and District Hospital
on Saturday of Mrs. John L. Mc-
Ewen, formerly of RR 1, Blue -
vale. She was in her. 84th year.
Born in Howick Township, on
September 16, 1891, Mrs. Mc-
Ewen was the former Annie
Ethel Stutt, a daughter of the late
9 -James Stutt and Annie Henry.

--drew's •Presbyterlarr Church and\
the,Women's Missionary Society
of that church. A
Surviving are 'one son, Thomas
McEwen of RR 1, Gorrie; one
daughter, Mrs. Robert (Isobel)
Arbuckle of RR 5, Wingham; nine
grandchildren and one great-
grandson. She- was predeceased
by her husband in 1961 and. one
daughter, Helen, in 1973.
The late Mrs. McEwen rested
at. the R. A. Currie and Son Fun-
eral Home, Wingham, until Mon-
day at two o'clock when' funeral
service and committal was con-
ducted by Rev. Robert H. Arm-
strong. Interment will take place
:later in Wroxeter Cemetery.
Pallbearers were six grand-
sons, Donald McIIroy, Douglas
, Arbuckle, Peter, Sandy, David
and Donald McEwen.
Donations to the charity of your
choice are being accepted as ex-
pressions of sympathy. -

102, died Wednesday, Febru-
ary 19 in Listowel Memorial
Hospital... Mrs. Mosure ' had
resided at the Fordwich Vil-
lage Nursing Home–for sev-
eral years. She was a
member of the Fordwich
Morning Star Lodge LOBA
for over 50 years. The funeral
service was held Saturday at
the Fordwich Anglican
Church. Burial will be in the
Fordwich Cemetery.

Born in Beigrave, Mr, tOUe-
house was a spn of fhe late Robert
Stonehouse and 'Agnes Jamieson.
He attended the Belgrave Public
School, Wingham High School,
Stratford Normal School and
Spotton's Business College. In
1919, he was in partnership and
taught at the London Business
Institute. Later in his life, he was
employed,,ns a public' accountant.
He was a veteran of World War 1,
having served in the Royal Cana-
dian Air Force in Canada from
1916 to 1918.
Mr. Stonehouse was a member
of Calvary United Church, Lon-
don, where he had served as sec-
retary of the official board since
1947. Previous to that he served
as a member of the board of
stewards and later he was
appointed an elder. After being
unable to carry on in this capa-
city, the title of honorary elder
was bestowed upon him. He was a
long-standing member of the
Highland Golf Club and the
Canadian Progress Club of Lon-
don.
Left to mourn his passing are
his wife, the former Viola Black-
well of Bervie, whom lie married
in 1928 in Stratford; two daugh-
ters, Mrs. Robert (Shirley)
Smart of Waskada, Man., and
Mrs. Lawrence (Sonja) Ellis of
West Hill; seven grandchildren
and one great-grandchild. He is
also survived by. three sisters,
Mrs. Harry (Carrie) McGuire
and Mrs. Robert (Ellen) Coultes
both of Belgrave, and Mrs. Rus-
sel (Agnes) Walker of Goderich;
and one brother, Lewis Stone- •
house of Belgrave. He was prede-
ceased by two brothers, Dr. Gor-
don Stonehouse, formerly of
Arizona, and Stewart who died in
infancy.

James Todd, passed away
'suddently at the Wingham and
District Hospital on /Thursday,
1+ ebrjary 20, in his 68th year.
Born and • educated in West
Wawanosh, Mr. Todd was a son of
the late Frank Todd and
Margaret Buchanan. He farmed
in this area all his life. He was a
member of the United Church.
Surviving are his wife, the
former Helen Elizabeth Miller,
whom he married December 12,
1935, in West Wawanosh; one
daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Anne)
Laidlaw of Wingham and two
sons, Wayne and Hugh, both of
West Wawanosh. There are three
grandchildren.
The late Mr. Todd rested at the
MacKenzie Memorial Chapel,
Lucknow, where service was con-
ducted Sunday at four o'clock by
Rev. A. Cook. Spring burial will
take place in Greenhill Ceme-
tery.
Pallbearers were Fred Web-
ster and Larry Miller of London,
Elliott Webster of Forest, Donald
Maclntyre of Willowdale, Bruce
McGillivary of"Paisley and Allan
Cranston of St. Helens. His
grandsons, Jim and Greg Laid-
law, carried floral tributes.
Damages moderate
in four mishaps
An accident on Feb. 19 resulted
in -$1,750 damage for drivers
Russel A. Bradshaw and George
L. Mutter, both of Brussels, when
their cars collided on Sideroad 15-
16, south of Huron County Road
16, Grey Township. The collision
was investigated by the Wingham
detachment of the Ontario Pro-
vincial police, .and no injuries
were reported.
Another collision occurred
Thursday on Highway 86, east of
the junction road to Bluevale,
Turnberry Township, and in-
volved Donald M. Alexander of
RR 4, Listowel and Ronald A.
Kutasinski of Waterloo. Damage
was estimated at $450.
A single -car accident occurred
Saturday when a vehicle driven
by Darrell Dale of Seaforth
skidded on the icy surface of
• Sideroad 50, north of Morris
Township Road 1, and drove into'

road, striking a tree. Damage
was estimated at $600.
Douglas R. Carter of Bluevale
was involved in an accident Feb.
19 on County Road 7, Howick
Township, when he was plowing
and struck a bridge railing.
There were no injuries. Damage
was estimated at $500.
