Fire detector is endorsed by chief Fire chief Dave Crothera-and the Wingham Fire Department are • endorsing a fire detection unit for home • installation. Chief - Crothers explained Monday . that the W tclox unit will be sold only through fire departments to ensure proper installation and use. As far as he's concerned, Chief Crothers said, the unit is one of the best he's ever seen and he will make every effort to pro; mote it in this area. "How much is a life worth?" he asked as he demonstrated the sensitivity of the unit. Mrs. Victor Youngblut led in prayer. Mrs. McBurney gave the secre- tary's report and Mrs. Victor Youngblut read the treasurer's statement. Both ladies reported for the year. Mrs. Bruce read ,a story, "The Small Church".. Roll call was an- swered with a verse on "Love". Fifteen calls to sick and shut-ins were recorded. It was decided to contact a speaker for Jhe World Day of Prayer. Mrs. McBurney gave the topic on India and read a story, "Niger, Last Port of. -Call". Mrs. Bruce closed the meeting with prayer and Mrs. McBurney served lunch. DiED TURVEY—At the Wingham and District Hospital on Saturday, January 11, Roy Turvey of Brussels, aged 81 years. Born in Morris Township, the late Mr. Turvey was an elemen- tary School teacher in. the area for many years prior to his retirement to Brussels. Sur- viving are his wife, Mary; one daughter, Mrs. William (Mar- garet) McTaggart of Goderich; one grandson, Scott of London; and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Fred (Laura) Meshaw of Burlington: He vras prede- ceased by one sister, Stella. He was a member of Melville Presbyterian Church, Brus- sels. The late Mr. Turvey rested at the Watts Funeral Home, Brussels, where • Rev. Nelson of Seaforth conducted the service at two o'clock on Tuesday.
