Following on from the watch night service, Rev. Wesley B. Ball read as his lesson, the letter of Paul to the Philip- pians, chapter 3; and his sermon topic on that occasion was "Press On". Forgetting yesterday's sins about which we tend to brood and yesterday's successes over which we boast, let us keep our eyes. on Christ. It was a fitting theme for the year ending.' Also, at the same service, the minister received and dedicated two memorials in the form of brass candlesticks to the memory of the late Mr. and Mfrs. Ewart Whitfield. The late Anne Whit- field served for many years in the Sunday School department of Gorrie United with love and devotion. Mr. Whitfield was church treasurer and a steward of the church for many years.
