Police During the regular committee reports Police Chairman Bill, Harris informed the meeting that a representative of the Ministry • of Transportation and Com- munications had inspected the police radio equipment 'and decided that the unit's range was being limited by the position of the antenna. The Ministry in- spector suggested that the police install a 100 ft. tower to extend the radio range. However, .the chairman suggested thatthe police apply to the PUC for space on top of the standpipe along with the PUC and hospital antennae. Councillor .Harris saidexisting transmitter equipment could be used but a new remote control phone would have to be installed. The cost of the new remote con- trol unit would be about 8350. Councillor Willis expressed concern that such an expenditure could be premature until the study on policing in the county was completed because they may decide on a different radio net- work system. The police chair- man explained that the remote control unit could be used with any type of commuinications system. Council then agreed that the recommendation be ac- cepted. Mayor Miller informed council during the Industrial Committee report that it had been a month and a half since he had heard anything from the Ontario Hous- ing Corporation concerni ng the building of a Home Ownership Made Easy subdivision in Wing - ham. However, he said he had been told that OHC will be releas- ing some sort of list of muni- cipalities which will be getting such developments. The mayor said he had toured local indus- tries in the area and their pro- posed expansions could bene- ficially affect the OHC declaim. High Bill Councillor Hayes presented the. Recreation Committee report for' Deputy Reeve Harold Wild who was absent. The councillor noted that the bill for pool repairs had been $1,600 higher than had been submitted on the tender agree- ment. However, he went on to say that contractor Brian Rintotii's portion of the bill had not changed but that sandblasting work had been hampered by wet conditions this spring. He added that the original sandblasting contractor had "flown into the wild blue yonder" and Mr. Rin- toul had to hireanotier company to do. the ''work. Another added expeinse was the Installation of a ground fault .detector • which monitors the pool's electrical system and immediately cuts all hydro in the system if a short cit. cuit•develops,. The gadget cost the Recreation Committee $250. Day Care.
