Prayer power
used as topic
by Mr. King
The Chalmers congregation at-
tended services conducted by•
° Lawrence King at the United'
dChurch in Whitechurch on . Sun-
day.
Mr. King based his sermon on
n • an excerpt from John 16, "What -
r -soever ye shall ask the Father in
• my name He will give it to you".
f The speaker told the congrega-
tion that people today don't be-
lieve in the power of prayer. He
n said that they keep wondering
why things happen but they
• forget to pray and have faith. Mr.
King asserted that Jesus told us
to love God with our souls, hearts,
minds and with all our strength.
If people would do that, their
lives would be full of joy. He told
the congregation to give thanks to
God in their own lives and be joy-
ful.
The choir sang "Have You
Heard of Him" and Jackie Why -
tock performed a violin solo ver-
sion ,of "Rock of Ages". She was
acompanied by Mrs. Garnet

games for young and Old were led
by Mrs. Donald Brown .and Mrs.

business meeting. A vote of
thanks. was eictended to the
Browns ' .for making their home
available for the reunion,
especially so, as they.. have sold
the farm and are leaving the
community.
