YOU CAN FIX -IT
By Gene Von
WINDOW FROSTING
If you're looking for a little more
privacy in one of your rooms, in
which the window isn't frosted, here's
one method of frosting that window.
Soften some putty with a few drops
of linseed oil, and dab this over the
window glass. This will dry into a nice
frosting in a day .or two, whereupon
another coating may be applied. This
frosting is more or less permanent and
weatherproof, and can be safely wash;
ed with soap and water. But it is
possible, too, to "defrost" the glass at
. any time, if you wish, with Some con-
centrated ammonia.

ROBERT
McKINLEY,
the Conservative candidate, is the
incumbent again this year in Huron -Middlesex. He says his
party's major campaign platform is prices and incomes
freeze not a price and wage freeze. That freeze would be
placed, in his view, on everyone except farmers, to stimu-
late production and would not affect incomes increments
that were previously negotiated to take effect after the
election. (Photo by Jackson)

Q. Recently while we were
guests in aY friend's ' home at
dinner, the other guests refused
,second helpings, while I gladly
.accepted. My wife says I was
wrong for doing this. Was I?
A. Depends. Sometimes when
a guest is the only one to accept,
`he could be delaying the serving
of the next course — and consid-
eration is, a mark of good -
breeding.
Q. One of my friends has
asked, me to take care of the
bridal book at her wedding recep-
tion. How do I properly do this?
A. Stand with the book open
on a small .table as the guests
reach die, -end of the 'reception
line, after speaking with the bride
and groom, and you ask them to
sign Abe bridal book.
Q. Is it all right to write
thank -you notes on the
typewriter?
A. Although most typewritten
personal notes are now 'generally
accepted, still it is much better --
and
and seems to denote more sin-
cerity — to write thank -you notes
by hand.
Q. HOW late at night is it
proper fora young man to phone
a girl at her home?
A. This would largely depend
upon the custom of that 'girl's
family, and their feelings in the
matter. Generally speaking, I
think drat ten o'clock should be
the latest.
Q. Is it correct to mail out
invitations written in pencil or
typed out over the hostess'
` handwritten name?
A. No. Invitations should be
handwritten in ink -- or
engraved. The pencil and the
typewriter are out!

ssituation,"
Ee points out that the policy
has not worked in other countries
were it has been initiated and
that the tendency of the program
has been to "cause more in-
flation, not less."
Mr. Bradshaw terms the freeze
an "administrative monster"
and asks "How can the Con-
servatives say we should reduce
the number of civil Servants and
still
putin a monster policy like
this that would need civil service
to carry it out?"
The Liberals, says Mr.
Bradshaw, "are trying to le ,e1

"We're saying that we don't
have all of the solutions to the
country's problems. But, we have
damn tough leadership. We have
a good quality of people running
for election from all walks,of life
in our party. And we're hot going
around - conducting a campaign
based on heaping abuse on the
other two parties. We're
defending ourselves."
For the past five years, Mr.
Bradshaw, has served ;as an
alderman on the Stratford city__
council. In 1969, when he ran for
council, his platform was based
on reduction of the city's debt,
and reduction of its tax rate. •
He also wanted to conduct city
business . on stop -deficit finan-
cing. During his five_ years as
finance chairman he reduced
taxes 18 and a half mills and
council paid about $2 million of
the city debt.
His work also helped bring
about the result of year end ac-
cumulated s4rpluses of about
$300,000.
"Everyone said it couldn't be
done," says Mr. Bradshaw, "but,
it was just a question of making
major improvements to the
administration."
DAVID BRADSHAW, LIBERAL
--"If the price of oranges go up,
he (Stanfield) bl4taes the Lib-
