Music -comedy -variety - sports
that seems to be the lineup on
CBC Television's summer
schedule, with a few good
documentaries thrown in.
In the musical classification
it's little goodies like the Myrna
Lorrie Show; "Applause, Ap
plause", a CBC Winnipeg
production starring Dinah
Christie and Dean Regan;
Vancouver -produced "A Time to
Sing"; and "Montreal, Mon-
treal", a variety show from
where else but that city. There
will also be an Edmopton-
produced show added to the
roster, real variety from every
area of this fair land of ours, and
many of these being mini-series.

wherein a show appears for a
limited number of weeks and
then is replaced. Some great
Scottish entertainment from CBC
Halifax is featured in **Ceilidh"

iteplacing Iommy Hunter III
be Ronnie Prophet whose show
this year carries his own name
but may not be too different from
the series from last summer,
"Country Roads". It will also
feature several guest per-
formances by recording artist
Gloria Kaye.
A nine -week series, starting
this Saturday evening, will be
"Inside Canada", which will be
produced in Winnipeg and will
star Diane Stapley who, you
might recall, won the 1973 AC -
TRA award for her performance
last year. Also available to
network channels along the
Musical line will be "Flipside", a
Montreal production featuring
Canadian performers and
recording artists; and "En

The big news In the comedy
field is Charlie Chaplin who each
Sunday evening at 9. waddles into
your living -room in all his
splendor to take you back to the
silent movie days, the days when
a look or an action could make an
audience laugh or cry. The young
people of today would probably
think his entertainment quite
boring but he was a master at the
art of pantomime, a title that no
one else can claim.
Highlights of the sports
schedule will include 12 Expo ball

gymnastics, badminton, soccer
and water polo to swimming and
basketball.
