named senior
citizens' pres.
WROXETER — The Social
Senior Citizens met in the local
community hall for a social even-
ing recently.
Douglas Bunker and Jack
Burns spoke briefly on the liquor
vote for Howick Township. An
invitation from Gerrie to join
them for a picnic, was accepted.
Due to the resignation of Mrs.
James Wilson as president, Mrs.
Garvey Coupland was appointed
president with Alex Petrie as
rst vice-president and Mrs. Lil
Gallaher as second vice-presi-
dent. A vote of thanks was ex-
tended to Mrs. Wilson.
Rev. Henry Jennings con-
ducted a musical relay which was
won by Mrs. Lloyd McGee.
Elmer Farrish of Gorrie showed
his very interesting pictures of
his trip to the Yukon, Alaska,and
British Columbia.
Lunch was served by the com-
mittee 'in charge.
The committee in charge of the
next meeting is Mrs. Harvey
Coupland, Mrs. William Merkley,
Mrs. Laura Munro and Mrs. Mac
Allan. it will be held on June 24
and will take the form of a public
progressive euchre party.
Everyone is welcome.
Open house held
for former
Wroxeter couple
WROXETER — An open house,
in honor of the 60th wedding anni-
versary of Mr. and Mrs. Russell
Walker of Paris (formerly of
Wroxeter) , was held recently in
the community hall here.
Mr. and Mrs. Walker were
married 00 years ago January 21
in the Wroxeter Methodist par-
sonage by the late Rev. R. S.
Lackland. Mr. and Mrs. Walker
farmed for several years in
Howiek Township prior to
moving to Wroxeter vihere Mr.
Walker was employed by the
Department of Highways. They
are now retired and moved to
Paris in 1971.
Mr. and Mrs. Walker have six
children: Mrs. Dan (Mildred)
Walkam, Paris; Mrs. Lee
(Beryle) Miller, Ayr; Mrs.
William (Clara) Busby,
Neustadt; Mrs. Wilfred (Jean)
Weppler of Chesley; Kenneth of
Cambridge (Galt) and Harry of
Harriston. There are 12 grand-
children and 20 great-grand-
children.
Friends and relatives attended
from Galt, Preston, Paris,
Milverton, Strathroy, Chesley,
Fordwich, Gorrie and Wroxeter.
Miss Evelyn Jewell, Hamilton,
spent a few days last week with
Mrs. Laurie VanVelsor.
Russell Hayden is undergoing
surgery in Kitchener Hospital.

Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. James Wilson
attended the funeral of the tat-
ter's uncle, Lloyd Fleet of
Nobleton, at the Bolton Funeral
Home on Monday.
