Yellow and white setting
for Harkness -Rode vows
Carolyn Rode of Wingham,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter
Rode of Listowel, was married to
Ron Harkness, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Bruce Harkness of RR 1,
.Clifford, at St. Paul's Lutheran
Church, Listowel, on Friday,
June 14 at 7:30 p.m.
Rev. R. B. Geelhaar of St.
Paul's Lutheran Church officiat-
ed with Paul Seiler of Listowel as
organist.
The bride wore a formal length
gown of white polyester. The
bodice was covered with flowered
lace and featured full length lacy
sleeves gathered in a cuff at the
wrist. The wedding ring collar
also featured lace. A yellow silk
ribbon encircled the waist, at-
tached to the front with a bow and
long flowing tails. Her waist -
length veil was attached to a
headpiece of bowers and pearls.
She carried a bouquet of white
carnations and yellow Sweet-
heart roses.
The matron of honor was Mrs.
Craig MacDonald of Toronto, and
the bridesmaids were Miss Linda
Harkness of Clifford and Mrs.
Carl Bartman of Palmerston.
They wore floor -length. Aline
dresses in . a yellow -flowered
pattern of cotton and polyester.
The dresses featured puffed
sleeves, wedding ring collar and
long back ties. They carried
baskets of white daisies. and
• baby's breath.
The best man was Ross Harper
of Goderich and the ushers were
Harold Rode of Mohtreal wand Le-
land Harkness of RR 1, Clifford.
• The bride's mother wore a blue
polyester crepe dress featuring a '•
beaded neckline and short
sleeves and a corsage of pink
Sweetheart roses. The ;groom's
mother wore a pink fortrel dress
and a long-sleeved coat and a
'corsage of yellow Sweetheart
•
roses.
The reception took place at the
Palmerston Legion Hall.
On going away the bride wore a
blue and white checked pant suit
with blue accessories.
The couple took their wedding

trip to the west coast and plan to
reside at RR 1, Clifford.
Guests came from Niagara
Falls, Windsor, Mitchell,
Toronto, Mount Albert, Detroit,
Bornholm, Seaforth, Wingham,
Kitchener and Guelph.

held recently. Her marriage to

held at the home of Mrs. Ken
Munro, Hamilton, sister of the
groom -elect, and a grocery
shower was held at the home of
Vern's aunt, Mrs. Walter White of
Hamilton, when many relatives
were present.

prospective groom, held a mis-
cellaneous shower.
Miss, Ann Dabrowski, maid of
honor, entertained many of
Kathy's friends at a shower held
at the Wingham Motel and the
following evening, Mrs. Pauline
Knapp of London held a family
dinner in honor of the bride and
groom -elect. They were present-
ed with many useful gifts includ-
ing . a pair of garters for the
groom -elect.

Kathy's great aunt, Mrs. Wil-
liam Scott of Uderton, held a
grocery shower when the bride
and groom -elect were the recip-
ients of many useful kitchen
articles.
Mrs. Clare Westhouse of
Hamilton, neighbor of the groom -
elect, held a miscellaneous
shower at her home. The same
evening.a stag was held in Hamil-
ton in Vern's honor. Ken Munro,
Vern's brother. in-law, was the
host and many, friends from
Hamilton and Wingham at-
tended.
A luncheon was held at the
home of the bride -elect's aunt.
Mrs. George Copeland of
Toronto, when Kathy was
presented with many beautiful
cups and saucers.
- Mrs. Hap Swatridge, Mrs. Jack
Reavie and Mrs. Harry Brydges
were joint hostesses at a mis-
cellaneous shower held in the
Wingham United Church. About
fifty friendt were present to
honor the bride -elect.
Kathy and Vern appropriately
expressed their sincere apprecia-
tion on each occasion for the
thoughtfulness of their friends
and relatives in honoring them
prior to their marriage. •

E. Brassel officiated amid a set-
ting of white mums. Organist was

Unit of Fordwich UCW held their
June meeting in the Village NurS-
ing Home. Convenors of the pro-
gram were Mrs. Warren Zur-

father, the bride wore a°gown of
white sheer organza. Ruffles en-
hanced the scoop neckline and
cap sleeves and re -embroidered
Venice lace trimmed the neckline
and edged the chapel. train. A
three -tiered fingertip veil of re -
embroidered lace descended
from a pearl and crystal capulet
and she carried a bouquet of
white and pink roses with a bit of
baby's breath. The groom's gift
to the bride was an opal necklace.
The bride's sister, Rhonda
Drover of Listowel, was maid of
honor. She wore a floor -length
gown of yellow gingham jersey.
It complemented the wedding
gown with its ruffled cap sleeves
and V front. The dress was set off
by a keyhole cut in the back and
tied at the neck. She were a white
picture hat and carried a bouquet

meeting presided over by Mrs.
Bruce Agla. Roll call was an-
swered by the members with a
get well card. Mrs. Clarence
Carswell thanked the ladies for
cards and visits while she was a
patient in Hospital. Mrs. Wray
Cooper gave thetreasurer's re-
port for May. Plans were ceza
pleted for catering to a wedding
on June 22nd -and the • garden

For travelling to Tobermory,
the bride wore a green and white
halter dress with matching jack-
et. On their return they will re-
side at RR 2, Listowel.
Out-of-town guests attended the
wedding frdm Massachusetts,
Ottawa, Tottenham, Deep River,
Kincardine, Elmira, Palmerston,
Wingham, Atwood and Brussels.
Honored guests were Mr. and
Mrs. W. T. Drover . and Mrs. A.
Caskanette of Toronto and Mrs.
Hugh Gilmour of. Wingham.

Church, Calgary, was tastefully
decorated with pink and white
carnations for the wedding of
Miss Linda Cummings and John
White, both of Calgary, Alberta,
on Friday evening, May 31. Linda
is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Cummings of Bolton and
John is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Wilfred White of Walkerton.
Father W. F. Stephenson heard
the marriage vows and cele-
brated the Nuptial Mass. Miss
Catherine White sang "All That I
Am", "0 Perfect Love" and "On
This Day, 0 Beautiful Mother',
accompanied by the organist,

The bride, escorted to the altar

formal white shantung suit with
tailored jacket and long sleeves.

and carried white daisies with
blue streamers.
The ' groom and groomsman,
Carl Koskimaski of Calgary,
were attired in white tuxedos
with blue shirts.
The bridal party received their
guests at a dinner for the im-
mediate family followed by a
reception at . Hull Estates for
family and friends.
After a short honeymoon in
southern Calgary, the bride and
groom will reside at 4831 Varsity.
