FORDWICH—The Senior citi- zens held' their June meeting in the Fordwich. Community Hall. There were 50 present. It was decided to have a summer meeting in the form of a picnic on July 27, at 4:30 p.m. in the Ford- wich Park. The ladies, under direction .of Mrs. William Wilson, plan to make a fancy quilt and sell tickets, quilt tobe .qn displ at the Howick Agricultural Pair. The men are working on the reno- vations at the community hall having almost completed the panelling. After the business, Robert Connell M.C.'d the program 'which took the form of 'a miscell- aneous program much enjoyed by all. Austin • Stinson led in community singing. and sang two solos, "Bells of St. Mary's" and "Lucky Jim". Mrs. Florence Wilson gave a reading, "Philo- sophy of Advancing Age" and Miss L. Beswitherick read a selection about a "Time for Lilacs and "Things Were Going to the Dogs". ' Ted . and Elfriede Klaassen sang and played some German songs and Mr. Forrest played a number of selections on his con- certina. Meeting closed with Mrs. K. Graham and' Mrs. 'Halliday singing "It's Jesus and Me" and "Just a Closer, Walk with God". ALL AROUND CORD Miss Yvonne Welsh, 13, daugh- ter of Mr, and Mrs. John R. Welsh, Base Borden, grand- daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wray Cooper, Fordwich received her "All Around Cord", on June 5 at a special ceremony held in Base Borden. The "All Around Cord" is the secondhighest award obtainable in Girl Guides. Yvonne is an active Girl Guide and is the holder of 25 badges and three emblems.
