At the face-off the Ironmen donned to the Arthur end and came near hitting the score sheet. Then the Arthur team rebounded f and at the 23 second mark rang up the first goal of the game with Cal MacDonald the marksman. It was exciting end-to-end action in the first period. Arthur out -hustling the Ironmen who were kept in the game only by some superb goal -tending by Paul Heffer. An Iron men defensive lapse gave Arthur's dangerous duo of Wayne Rooney and Dave Densmore an opening and at 16:02 Arthur was ahead by two on Wayne Rooney's goal. With a two -goal lead Arthur continued to, bombard the Wingham zone in the second period with attack after attack and a perfect, low, screened blast from the point by John Bell at 5:37 made it 3 to 0 for Arthur. Things didn't look good for the Ironmen or their faithful fans. The pendulum swung to the Iroinnen's favor at 10:22 when Arthur's Dave Draper, who stands at the top of the hate list of Ironmen fans, picked up a two minute penalty, The Wingham supporters rocked the rafters of the Arthur Cow -Palace with their -Go - Vilxigharn - Go" and the Ironmen responded with a power play goal by Russ Jones at 7:03. Now the Ironmen were on the move, they were the attackers. They bombarded blasts from all angles and eveitually a perfect shot° from the point at 11:35 by Cliff Hetherington made it 3 to 2. Alittle more than a minute later Russ Jones picked up his second goal of the garne to eveirthe score and the crowd went wild. The Ironmen continued to attack and strong back-checkin'g nullified any Arthur threats. With less than a minute to go Doug Leitch, in the slot, picked off a bad Arthur clearing pass and with a quick shot along the ice gave the Ironmen the go-ahead • and a 4 to 3 teal after,40 minutes, eked full (1,....TEkti"ghmkeT-, • Ironmen continued to carry the attack in the third period and at 1:32 a zig and a zag - by Man Yahhee and a ciuick pasP to Bob Johnston at the edge of the crease and the Iromnen had what appeared to be a 'commanding 5 to 3 lead_ ' But such was not the case! They out:skated the Iroomen who seemed to with- draw into a suicidal defensive game. At 11:22 Arthur's Cam MacDonald dented, the twine and at 13:01 fast -breaking Wayne Rooney scored to even the count and the Arthur fans screamed from their lofty perches, -Go - Eagles - Go" and their boys re- sponded with attack after attack thrown into the Wingham end. Only Ironmen goalie Paul Heffer kept Wingham in the game. With only one minute and 18 , seconds left in the game, Arthur's perseverance paid off and a rifle shot from the point by Ken Fair gave Arthur the go-ahead goal. With less than a minute to go excitement mounted as the Ironmen pulled their goalie for an extra attacker. However, mind- ful of their earlier loss in similar circumstances, Arthur threw up an unbeatable defensive wall to Preserve their 6 to 5 win. Wbistle Stops . . What a see -saw game, with each team taking turns at carrying the attack. . That first period of hockey had to be either the Irenmen's poorest effort of the playoffs or else Arthur's best . . . Only in the second period did the Ironmen display their real playoff power . . . Paul Heffer was the one bright spot for the Ironmen in this loss as he was certainly peppered with shots and beseiged with goal mouth scrambles . . . For Arthur, Cal MacDonald seemed to be the big gun with two goals and an cist and a strong checking game. . This was the cleanest game of the series with only 10 penalties handed out as Arthur's Dave Draper continued to lead the penalty parade with three penalties '... Ironmen picked up,a couple of injuries m this one, Steve Ste Marie getting a facial clip requiring stitches and Barry O'Krafka injuring a knee but finishing the game. He obviously skated with concerned caution . . Both teams hada good turn- out of fans and they were treated' to lots of action, the outcome of the game notdecided until the final whistle, . . This series is certainly putting hockey in the and The loPiC versation throughout the town. Enough changes to make it a whole new bike. The biggest news comes straight from the heart of the machine. The engine's moved up from 498 to 544 cc's. The transmission's improved (with a new shift drum for smoother shifting and a new clutch to take the extra power). There's a new crankcase emission control system. Vapours are routed through the air cleaner for recornbustion. The 550 has a shrouded hydraulic front disc brake. And electric starting, With safety interlock. Centralized fuse box. Rear brake wear indicator. Rubber -mounted instruments, rubber -mounted front fender. Honda didn't move the centre of gravity. It's still low.
