Marie CO.EDITOR: Kate Pattison New faces Mr. Wilson has come to our School to replace Miss Coutts, who left last Friday, March lst. He finds it difficult coining in the middle of the year since the stu- dents have become adjusted to one type of teaching and it is hard for them to change at short nonce. To him, teaching is an ex- change of ideas, a situation where both the teacher and stu- dent learns. His reception here has been very warm and friendly and he likes the students. He attended the University of Western Ontario and then taught in sklch places as Toronto. Mr. Wilson quit teaching and went into business for himself. He , owns three "Sam the Record Man" stores in London, Sarnia and Kitchener. Through these stores he has met with many fa- mous people, for example: Pink Floyd, Kenny Rogers and the First Edition, Alice Cooper, Rol- ling Stones, Thundermug, Uriah Heep. His activities have in- cluded a flight on Mick Jagger's airplane along with Truman Capote and other "stars", an all night party with Alice Cooper, a very raucous New Year's Eve party with Major Hoople's Boarding House. He was present when Kenny 'Rogers established his own Pirate Lable recording company. Besides his dabbling in 'fame he has also raced cars, in fact he used to own a prize -win Hing automobile. Reading and music are his hobbies. His record collection is very extensive ashe receives a lot of complimentary records. He likes rock music and over the' past year has taught himself to enjoy classical also. Mr. • Wilson returned to teach- ing because that is all he really wanted to be anyway. He is en- gaged to be married. Since she re- _sides in London, he drives to and from Wingham every day, with another teacher. We found Mr." Wilson a very, friendly and fascinating persolk to talk to and we hope he remains with ,us a long time. —Karen Wilson and Ann Dabrowski madill 1 The mouse and the elephant By Gerry Jutzi,13B They live in houses; side by side Controlling their estates with great pride The pride of owning such good land With large %upplies of resources at hand. Reach for the top This year's Reach for, the Top team was composed of Dan New- ton, Gall Renwick, Jim Pattison, Jim Welwood and Arthur Gibson and was under the leadership of Mr. Forrest. The first game was played against the team from Saugeen (Port Elgin): We put up a good fight, however it was not good en- ough. The game ended with a score of 295 to 165 in favor of'Sau- geen. The team then returned to play against Sacred Heart's team from Walkerton. The teams were very evenly matched, but through a lot of effort (and a.little luck), F. E, Madill came out on top of a very close game, With a score of 160 to 150. We have 'another game to play still and are hoping that it turas out well. MIDGET BASKETBALL The Madill Mustangs midget boys' basketball team, undelr the coaching of Mr. Shore, gave. a quite admirable performance this year in their season play.
