Mawhinney and Doug Busby with

On Wednesday, the Midgets
least to Palmerston by a score of 7-
2. Ron Riley and Paul Inglis got
the Belmore goals.
Thursday, in an exhibition
game, the Belmore Squirts tied'
Mildmay 6-6.
° Friday the Belmore Midgets
defeated Drayton bya score of 10-
2.
Also on Friday the Squirts won
over Clifford 9-3. Scoring for
Belmore were Murray,
Mawhinney with four goals, Dave
Eadie with two goals and Keith
Rutherford, Robbie Helfenstein
and Doug Busby with one each.
Thursday, the Belmore Inter-
mediates lost to Belgrave by a
score of 6-4 and the following
night... they were defeated by
Monkton 13-3.
In broomball Sunday Am-
bleside won over Belmore 3-1.
Ron Harkness scored the
Belmore goal.

BELMORE — In hockey last
Friday, the Belmore Pee Wees .
defeated Kurtzville 5-2, the goals
being scored by Dennis Schiestel,
Greg Inglis, Kenton Schaefer,
Don Busby and Jeff Mulvey.
The following Wednesday the
Pee Wees won over Fordwich 7-2.
Scoring for Belmore were Andy
Renwick, Dave Fischer, Willie
Stafford, Brad Horton, Brian
Hays, Phillip Eadie and. Ray
Willits.
On Friday the Pee Wees won a
3-tvictory .over Gorrie. The Bel -
more gdals were scored by Ray
Willits, Willie Stafford and Jeff
Mulvey..
Thursday the Intermediates

COFFEE KLATCH
The Coffee Klatch girls got
back to bowling after the holidays
with 25 ladies turning out. Before
startingto bowl, iVIrs. Young pre-
sented all the girls who entered
the tournament in October with
apple juice mugs.
One of the girls was not quite
over New Year's; she forgot to let
go of the ball and started "down
the alley on her knees!
Those bowling 200 and over
were Diane English 228; Mary
Campbell 244; Ruby MacLennan
200; Kathy Gibson 215; . Shirley

e Legion ladies got back into
form after the holidays. The
Peanuts are in first place with 58
points, . the Road Runners in
second place with 53. The Flint -
stones have 47 and the Yogi Bears

It all belonged to Gladys Yeo
and Jean King. Gladys had high
single of 241 and high triple of 668.
Jean's 236 single and 637 triple
were runners-up.

Even after a week's holiday,
+Gail's Gotchas • still managed to
hold the lead spot with 69 points.
Running a close second are
Marie's Misfits with 63, followed
by Isabell's Dingalings with 59,
Elda's Extras 54, Helen's Hellers
48 and Norma's Newfies 38.
Gail Holmes had a nice 267
game to take the ladies' high
single and Marg Moffat rolled an
excellent three game total of 707
to take high triple honors.
In men's action, Bruce Skinn
rolled a lovely 272 game for high
single and Don Montgomery hail
a great night with a 669 high
triple total.

Dorothy Craig captured both
the lady's high single, 208 and the
lady's high triple honors with

play last week. For the gentle=
men Mike Newton picked up both

grandparents, Mr. and `1VIrs." Wal-
lace Matthews.
Congratulations to Mr. and
Mrs. Brian 'Sanderson on the
birth of their daughter who was
the first New Year's baby born in
Wingham and District Hospital.
Wingham smashes
Ripley 16-1
It was a harrowing evening for
Ripley's goalie last Friday as the
Wingham Bantams did every-
thing but cement the puck inside
the Ripley goal in a game that
ended in a 16-1 win for Wingham.
In the first period Gord Kina-
han opened the scoring within the
first minute of play on an un-
assisted goal at the 30 second
point. A minute later Bernie
Haines popped one in. The first
assisted goal of the period came
at the 5:15 mark, scoredy Kevin
Hickey assisted by DaveBenrlett.
At 15:10 Gord Kinahan scored
again the assist going to Kevin
Hickey and at 19:01 Kevin Hickey
put one in with assists by Gord
Kinahan and Kevin Carter.
The second period saw Wing -
ham score five more. Dave Ben-
nett scored at 3:50 with an assist
to Kevin Carter; Dave Kieffer
picked up his first point of the
game at 6:20, Assists on the play
went to Doug McGregor and
Kevin Carter. At 7:50 Kevin
Hickey put one in unassisted.
Then Mike Montgomery scored
at 9:00 with the assistance of
Dave Kieffer. Ripley managed
their onlyngoal of the game 18:40
when Stanley scored from Mc-
Gargey. Wingham wound up the
period with a goal by Doug Mc-
Gregor at 19:20. Assists went
Dave Kieffer and Mike Mont-
gomery.
eff�The third 'period was 'a six -goal
t by Wingham. Gord Kina-
han scored at 5:05 on a play
assisted by Kevin Carter. Then at
6:20 Dave Kieffer' put one in the
net with the assistance of Mike
Montgomery. Less than a minute
later it was 12-1 when Gord Kina-
han put in another with the help
of Bernie Haines. Doug McGre-
gor got 'his second goal of the
evening with the aid of Mike
Montgomery and Kevin Carter at
8:00, At 8:45 it was Bernie Haines
sinking a shot with assists from
Kevin Hickey and Dave Bennett.
The final goal of the game came
at 13:00 when . Kevin Carter put
the puck in the net. The final
assist went to Dave Kieffer. •

Bowling
The Smarties and the ]4
Bars have Jumped from a tie for
second to a tie for first place in
the Junior Bantam division, with
41 points each. The Kit Kats
aren't far behind with 40.fnllnwefl
by the O'Henrys with 38, the
Aeros with 29 and the Crunehies
with 20.
Kerry Thompson took both the
girls' high single and high double
with 145 and 239 while Stene
Anger got both high single and
high double for the boys with 185
and 304 scores.
Games over 125 were bowled, by
Steve Anger, 185, Kerry Thornp-
son, 145, Blair Mansell, 135 and
Wayne Thompson, 141. Steve
Anger also won a 100 covet crest.
Bantam
The D . tsuns still hold first
place in t : antam division with
45 points. They are followed by
the Mazdas with 42, the Javelins
with 39 the * Torinos with 34, the
Comets with 29 and the Pintos
with 21.
Debbie Merkley had the high
single and 'high double for the
girls with 177 and 280. The high
single and high double honors
went to Robert Wharton 176 and
Craig Brydges 327.
Craig Brydges, 167, Brian Hoy,
170 and Debbie Merkley, 177, all
topped the 165 mark.
Junior
The Clubs with 46 points have a
four point lead over the second
place Spades in the Junior stand-
ings. They are followed by the
Aces with 39, the Jokers with 38,
the Hearts with 24 and the Dia-
monds with 21.
Rhonda Lee "° took the high
single for girls with a 219 game
and the high triple for girls went
to Joanne Anger who bowled 381.
Jay MacLaurin, 201 took the
boys' high single and Ricky Mac-
Lennan had a three game 368 to
take the boys' high triple.

Fordwich by a 3-2 score.
Ken Henry scored for Belgrave
in the first period with assistance
from Brian Coultes and =Niel
Edgar.
Early in the second period
Fordwich tied the score. With
time running out it the period
At the midway mark of the
third- frame Fordwich again tied
the more. Stone School came
fighting back and at 7:21 Niel
Edgar scored. Assists went to
Brian and Tone Black.
Stone pcllool managed to main-
tain the leafd throughout .the final
period and took the game 3-2.
