Willows were the winners. They
are Alex Reid, Doug Browne,
Leone Foerter Marjorie Johnson,
Marg Bridge and Margaret John-

Gordon and Doris Mattheson,
owners of the, bowling . alley
donated prizes to the lady and
gent who improved their bowling
most from the previous week.
Winners were Alex Reid, a turkey,,
and Nellie Allan,. a pot of mums.
Winnie Winkel and Don Bridge
also were the winners of a carton

meeting of the McIntosh United
Church Women Was held in the
church basement With. 22 present.

Christmas carols were sung. The
scripture was read ,by Mrs. Jim
Busby, A Christmas story was
•read and devotions closed with
prayer.
Mrs. David Harper was in

Ironmen- one goal down after 40
minutes of hockey.
The Ironmen came out fighting
in the third and in only 24 seconds
tied the score on a fine three way
play with hard working Barry
MacDonald scoring, assists going
to Steve Ste. Marie and Phil
Paquette. However, Owen Sound'
jumped into the lead at 3:47 with
Peter Woof getting his second
goal of the game. But less than u
two minutes later Wingham tied
it up with Gerry Wheeler zooming
a bullet low into the corner after
being set up alone in the slot,

A -quick goal at the one minute
mark by Bob Johnston shot the,
Ironmen ahead 7 to 4 then from
that point on Port Elgin' came on
strong°- and out -hustled and out -
skated the Ironmen, and were re-
warded with three goals, one by
Murray Cobean and two by Bart
Williams to tie the game 7 all.
WHISTLE STOPS ... Certainly
nice to see a good crowd. The fans
saw a much better game than the
7 draw
one-sided TV affair that evening'.
... These two teams are certainly
evenly matched and seem to dish
up exciting action every time
they meet ... Doug Leitchjust
couldn't get the puck bouncing
right in this game and not only
was he talking to himself after
missitlig an open net but he had to
watch from the penalty box as
one of the referees fingered;him
as the offender on a tripping call.
Seems the referee had trouble
' telling the number 16 from .18 .,..
For two periods the° Ironmen
completely dominated the. play

team came on strong in the third
as the : Ironmen seemed to set
aside . offence for defence .

Beimore sports..
On December 21, in hockey, the
Belmore Midgets tied 3-3 with
Harriston: Scoring for Belmore
were Paul Inglis, Kevin Hastie
and David Mawhinney.
Also Friday, the Intermediates
were defeated by Teeswater. The
following Sunday, they tied
'Floradale with a 2-2 score. The
Belmore goals were scored by
Mervyn Weishar and Leland
Harkness.
In broomball last Sunday night,
Belmore defeated the Mildmay
Monarchs 1-0 with Doug Inglis
scoring for the Belmore team.

The Mothers' Auxiliary to
Wingham Minor Hockey opened
their meeting at 8:30 p.m. at the
Wingham Arena, Dec: 10, by wel-
coming all those who : attended.
The minutes of the last meeting
were read and adopted.
No reply was received on the
request for the donation of a clock
by Tuckey Beverages, so the
Auxiliary decided to purchase
one and E. Saxton was authorized
to buy one locally. °
E. Saxton gave the treasurer's
report and issued a cheque for
$258.83° for the Novice sweaters
and socks, donated by' the
Auxiliary.

up to their expectations and they
may very well be needing fin-
ancial help at amend of the year..
It was also mentioned that the
present hockey helmets, unless
approved by the CSA, are not .al-
lowed to be sold by retailers as of
the first of January: There is no
law sajnng that those hockey hel-
mets.now being wornare to be re-
placed
by CSA by Jnuary 1st, or
that they are obsolete. For- the
child's safety, though, approved
helmets should be purchased in
the future.
The Lockridge Midget Tourna-
ment will be held the weekends of
March 15, 16, 17 and 18 for C and
B category, and March 22,. and 23
for A and AA Category.
The next meeting will be held
on January 7, at 8:30 p.m. in the
arena.
In PeeWee-Bantam House
League hockey play last week,
Stainton's defeated -T k and
Mark's were victorious against
Walden's.
Joe Vienneau, playing illi his
first game scored the opener. for
Stainton's. Doug Merkly wed in
the second goal and at 16:35 Of the
final period Ken Tervit popped in
the winner.
John O'Hagan and Bill Broome
scored an unassisted goal apiece
for IGA but it just wasn't IGA's
night fora victory.
The win gives Stainton's a five
point edge over IGA and Mark's,
who are tied for second place, in
the league standings.
The other game was a high
:scoring . affair with Mark's
coming out on the winning end of
a.7-5 score.
Le Van and ,Brucee
Maclntyre each anotched up two
goals for Mark's: while Steve
McKay, Ken Brooks and Terry
Netterfield rounded out the scor-
ing.
Tim Henderson and Joe Brophy
each managed two goals for -Wal-
den's and Tom MacLean added a
.single in this close game.
Action resumes on Friday,
December 28 at 5:15 p.m.
WHILE LES AND PEGGY TERVIT won the father -daughter class of
the Family Twosome bowling competition at Wingham Bowling
Laneg last Thursday they aren't really father and daughter. It was
deckled that Les, who is over 18, could play as his sister's partner.
Anyway, they managed to take the cbmpetition in their class with
a winning score of 1,216.

from the line-up due to leg injury.
