war was over so this year Bob
stays home witli his family.`
despite all the talk other' years
his family wishing him home, no
doubt they.all will be sorry the
tradition- has ended..
Hope's special '.Christmas -'
shows were the: greatest thing to
happen to the boys. At a.:time of
year when home and, family
mean so much, Bob brought a
touch of " home to'them and
brought a little of them home
withhim; for years, his` Christ-
mas ials were the highest-
rated shows on television even if
they Were shown weeks after
Christmas. There just wa
nothing like the sight of thio
sands of boys in uniform singing
"Silent Night" and trying hard to
swallow the lumps in their
throats. Bob has earned°the rest,
goodness knows, and though he
missed the Christmas stars in' his
children's' eyes, maybe.now he
will be able to see them in the
eyes of his grandchildren! It will
be a big day for the Hope family.
Although Bob Hope is not go-
ng, our native boy Tommy
Hunter is. He heads east to Ger-
many and Cyprus and Will also
visit the Canadian peacekeeping
force in Egypt, on this, his third
annual tour. Accompanying him
will be the OK Corrall Dancers,
and singers Christine Chandler
and Shirley Eikhard. She's the
ittle teenager who writes so
much of her "own material and
sounds so like Anne Murray.
They will give . five concerts in
Germany before moving on to
Cyprus and Egypt.
