The Women's Missionary So-
eiety of St. Andrew's Presby-
terian Church held .its monthly
meeting on Tuesday of last week.
The president, Mrs„ Robert Arm-
stro , opened the meeting withia
poem and ;prayer., This was fol«
lowed by the singing of the hymn,
"0 God of Love, 0' Brie of
peace",
Miss Myrtle Deaaus, in the ab-
sence of the secretary, Mrs.
Gordon Wall, read the minutes of
the previous meeting, 'and also
the correspondence. The roll call
<ishowed a total of calls made by
the meanhers. Reports. of the var-
lous committees for the year 1973
are to be sent to the ;secretary,,
Mrs. G. Wall, so she roanhave
them ready fr the next meeting
in December.' The members join-

ye gates of brass".r
The conveners in charge of the
,program were Miss Myrtle
Deans and Mrs. George Day.
Mrs. Wilfrid Congram selected,
for scripture. reading. Exodus 3:1
i' and based her meditation on, ,
these verses, speaking specif,-
icailly about "The Burning Bush"
which is a symbol of the Presby- .
terian Church with its inscription
"Ner Tamen Conauniebatttr"
which means "Notyet con-
sumed". Itis an inherited symbol
from the Church of Scotland, and
a very satisfying one. It is not
large and towering, but a small
bush suggesting humility. It sym-
bolizes the fact that God can use
very common, weak, lowly
people for His work. It says that
God will always be. God speaks to
us today through. His Son, Jesus
Christ. People of God are also,in-
destructible. Instead of becoming.
weaker, they become stronger
through faith in God, through'
prayer and by fellowship with
other Christians.
In closing, Mrs. Congram said,
"Let us keep The Burning Bush
before,us as a constant and de-
handig reminder ,of our Chris-
tian faith, and , f our great coin-
