Teeswater fair to
open op October 5
Teeswater Fall Fair has be-
come an 'annual tradition for
many people in this part of On-
ue -
tario„ and this ithat tradi
year's edition
promises to eonti
tion in grand style. e 1973 Tees -
water Fair is set for Thanksgiv-
ing week -end, October 5 and 6.
Donald M. Gillies of Toronto
will officially open the 118th fair.
Mr. Gillies is a native of Tees -
water and presently is regional
director of the Ontario VLA.
The gates will officially swing
open to the public October 5th at
7:00 p.m. Friday evening fair
goers will have an opportunity to
peruse the many varied displays
in the arena and exhibit hall and
at the same time be entertained
by various singers, choirs,
magicians and entertainers, and°
a concert band. For the slightly
more adventurous, the midway
will be open to provide thrills and
chills for the young at heart.
Saturday's program features
exciting harness racing, a giant
aerial balloon in free flight
demonstration, the Teeswater
Highlanders Pipe band, Hanover
Hi -Lite Majorettes, clowns and
those mirthful masters of the
high -bounding trampoline, the
Trampchamps. A professional
demonstration act featuring four
skydivers will parachute out of a
plane at one time.
The Mildmay Stepping 5 danc-
ers will perform their award-win-
ning talent which has been most
successful in Western Ontario,
In addition to the grandstand
entertainment, the traditional
elements of an agricultural fair
will be on display, including judg-
ing of all livestock and poultry
class, 441 clubs and horst
show arts and crafts and acres of
exhibits. A Saturday evening
variety show in the arena will
feature professional singers,
dancers magicians and comed-
ians, with dancing to follow. ,
Three new features this year
will be a clown contest open to
those aged 15 or Over a metal
sculpture class, and on Monday,
Octobex lith"only, Bruce County's
first tractor pull, featuring a
weight transfer sled made, own-
ed and operated by the Teeswater
Fair Board. This pull will be the
last sanction pull for the year.
