I've always felt lucky about therm. Each of the three is a fine fellow, and we've got along with never an unpleasant word or ex- perienee between us. That's more than lots of broth- ers-in-law can say. Left alone, they'd probably be fine, but when the women involved start getting their knives into each other, often a coldness develops among the poor devils of husbands. My railroader brother-in-law Went to highschool with me, and we played football together on a couple of the best teams that ever came out of Perth Collegiate In- stitute and Lanark County. ". My lawyer brother-in-law w.orked with me on a chain gang one summer, when we were stur dents, and it was the best dodge - work chain gang that ever worked for the Kodak company. We left no stone unturnedin our constant vigilance toappear to be working when the foreman came around, Both these chaps are around my own age, a bit tattered around the edges from raising families and paying. off mortgages, but otherwise in good shape. Most Huron County - Club members echoed the sentiments of their secretary, Don Watson of Clinton, when he expressed appreciation to Don Becker by saying, "We saw a lot of good cattle today, It should give us a few. ideas when we look at Our own cows." In general, all farms visited had a high degree of , manage- ment, with two or more people working full-time to care for 40-50 milking cows and another 40-50 young cattle. Every ,farm used tie -stanchions and . either full - pipeline systems or dumpingsta- tions to carry milk from ::the barn to the milkhouse. Examples of how to handle top -producing herds wee given at Beckhaven Farms, Friedhaven Farm, and Meadow Lee Farms, who' com- pete for the top production herds in the county year after year. Their composite herd averages are near 160 meaning that 'the average milk production is over 16,000 pounds. Examples of cattle prominent in both the exhibitor's ring and milk production were seen at Ebydale and Ebyholme farm•any cattle fromboth herds have been show winners at major shows.' The Huron County Holstein Club was accompanied by field- , man Gordon Bell, St. Marys, and Joe Snyder, Elmira. IUL-MOR A get -tough policy that pays oft tweets a second father and :d. big brother.
