WHITECHURCH — The United
Church Women held their April
meeting on Tuesday, April 3, at 2'
p.m. at the home of Mrs. Russel
Chapman. Mrs. Galcnet Farrier,
convener of Supply and Social
Assistance, had charge of the
worship service. She based the
worship service on Easter.
Mrs. Farrier opened the meet-
ing with a poem, and all sang "In
_the Cross. of Christ I Glory"
Tho tarring part in the Easter,
service were Mrs. Farrier, Mrs.
Robert Adams and Mrs. Ben Mc-
Clenaghan.

The Kindergarten class started
a. unit on transportation. They
have been painting cars and
trucks for this project.
In catechism class Grade One
is studying the Easter Story.
Grade Two is learning how to
share with others and the char-
acteristic's of good friendship.
They are going to have a religious
celebration next week. We are all
learning �vhy Jesus died for us.
Grades 7 and 8 went bowling on
Thursday, April 5. Joe Brophy
got the high single with a score of
265.

Two musical numbers were
given by Mrs. George Thompson,
Mrs. Karl DeKoeijer, Mrs. H. S.
Wardrop and Mrs. Garnet Far-
rier. The numbers were "Clu'1st
Arose" and Jesus Christ is Risen
Today".
Mrs. Farrier led in prayer and
followed with the story, "The
Hand of God" by Peter Marshall.
The president, Mrs. Millan
Moore, presided for the business.
The roll call was answered by an
attendance of 14 ladies naming
their favorite flower and giving a
garden lint. There was one child
present. •
Mrs. Dave Gibb read the min- "
utes. Thank -you notes were re-
ceived from Mrs. Tom Inglis and
Mrs: Carl Weber. A letter from
Africa was received stating that
the bale had been received and
the use made of it; even the cot-
ton bags in which, the articles
were. packaged, were used.
The offering was received.
Mrs. Moore thanked Mrs. Chap-
man for the use of her warm
home for the meeting. The next
meeting will be the Thankoffer-
ing to be held May 1 at 8:15 p.m.
in the church. Both men and
women are invited as Mrs. Colin
Campbell will be showing slides
and giving a commentary on her
trip to India.
Mrs. Moore closed the meeting
with a prayer for shutins and
others who could not be present.
The hymn, "Blest be the Tie that
Binds", was sung and the travel-
ling basket was then passed.
BLUEVALE III
The second meeting of the
Bluevale III 4-H Club was held on
April 3rd in the basement of the
United Church. Nine members
answered the roll .call which was
"Name one knitted garment in
your present wardrobe and tell
from what kind of knit it is
made". The club name, "Pretty
Polyesters" was chosen.
The Ieaders and members dis-
cussed knit samples and using
the pattern. Mary Edith Garniss,
the leader, demonstrated the
proper methods of adjusting and
altering patterns.

Mrs. Earl Wilken was at Listo-
wel on Friday where Mrs. Bill
Wilken was scheduledto have
surgery but it could not be per-
formed due to the fact -they' did
not have her type of blood. The,
surgery is to be this week.
On . Sunday, April 15, Lloyd
Murdock, a second -year student
will' preach at Whitechurch and
Langside for a call. He has one
more. year of college.

Robert Durnin is a patient at
Victoria Hospital where he will
undergo eye surgery.
Chalmers Presbyterian WMS
will hold its April meeting on
Thursday, April 19, at 2 p.m. at
the home of Mrs. Victor Emer-
son. The leaders will be Mrs,
Emerson, Mrs. Frank Coulter
and helper Mrs. Gordon Rintoul.
The roll call will be answered
with a scriptural verse contain-
ing the word 'Resurrection';
