District Hospital these days by
means of %combination radio -Ty
sets which are specially mounted
on patients bedS for easy viewing
and listening( ' rentable at a
modest dailyjrate,
The compliet sets, with an ap-
proximately- eight inch screen,
can be adjusted, to the conveni-
ence of tile patient, depending on
the required posture. Radio
seems most popular in themorn-
ings before television programs
are available. Then the picture is
turned on for the rest of the time.
Enjoy Sets
Patients who are well enough,
seem • to be really enjoying the
littlesets which are furnished by
Sterivision Systems, with Mrs.
Dorothy Marks acting as rental
agent in the afternoons, and look-
ing after issuing and maintaining
the 25 sets presently available.
Orders are available at the ad-
missions' desk and are suggested
as a gift that will be deeply ap-
preciated` by short -stay patients
who are on the road to recovery.
Miss Gwendoline Norris, direc-
tor of nursing, thinks it cuts out a
lot of boredom for the patients
Reception Good
An antennae has been mounted
on the building and all rooms of
the hospital have been wired for
outlets. Reception of TV ins _ in
black and white, and good recep-
tion is coming from channels 8,13
and 10.
In order to avoid interfering
with the rest of others, patients
are issued personal earphones at
$1 which they retain for sanitary
reasons.
The rental rate ti $1.35 per day,
which sd become a financial
.
conside tion for long -stay
patients, but these are en-
couraged to use ' the big console
TV set in the patients' lounge on
the main floor.
Good "Present"
For the short stay hospital pa-
tients, the rate is thought reason-
able, and represents a thoughtful
present from family or friends of
the patient, instead of the stan-
dard gifts.
At any rate, everyone involved
seems pleased with the service.
Spuce and fir do best on loams
but pines prefer deep sandy soils.
COMBINATION RADIO -TV SETS are now available to bed patients at Wingham end Dis-
triet Hospitsii and are welcomed by patients and nurses alike. Here Mrs. Mabel Steward of
Lutknow (in dressing gown) has her set adjusted by Mrs. Donelda McDonald Reg.N.,,
