by-election
Announcement by Premier
William -Davis Monday that a by-
election will be held for Huron
riding March 15 to fill the
vacancy left by the resignation of
Mon. C. S. MacNaughton has re-
sulted in a spurt of activity by
political organizations in the rid-
ing. A by-election is also being'
held in the riding of Toronto -St.
George's vacated by the former
Justice Secretary Allan Law-
rence.
Russell Bolton of Seaforth has
been named returning officer for
Huron, a post he has held on pre-
vious occasions.
It is believed at least three can-
didates will seek the Progressive
Conservative nomination, includ-
ing the riding association presi-
dent, Bill Dale, at a convention
originally scheduled for May 2
but now pushed ahead to Febru-
ary 16 at Central Huron Second-
ary School, Clinton.
A Liberal convention will be
held some time in mid-February
according to Howard Aitken of
Goderich to give the Liberal can-
didate some "field tune".

meeting last week regarding the
proposed addition to the present
high school building. Tentative
„plans call for an eight -room .ex-
tension of the building to the
north and east. The block would
contain four normal classrooms,
one music room, 'one science
room as well as rooms for home
economics and shop. It is hoped
that the addition will be finished
in time for the September open-
ing of the school.

Tuesday, while Calvin Nixon of
RR 5, Brussels, lacerated his left
hand on a skate in Belgrave
Today is the official opening of
Winghaph'enew and modern res-
taurant in the former Sherbondy
building by Lee's Restaurant.
The building has been completely
renovated and will accommodate
slightly over 100 diners at one
time.
Jim Ballagh of the 4th conces-
sion of Culross was one of the
lucky hunters iq a recent fox
hunt. He shot one of the tagged
foxes and found it was worth $50.

A fractured left knee was suf-
fered by Peter Schurwater of RR
2, Teeswater, on -Saturday when a
cow fell on him at his farm.
When a rope he was climbing
broke, George Riddle of RR 2,
Blyth, took a tumble and suffered
head injuries when he hit a brick
wall. The incident took place Sat-
urday and his condition was re-
ported satisfactory.
