2 pounds grotmci beef
2 tablespoons chopped onion
1- clove garlic, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper ,
24 cup grated old Canadian
Cheddar cheese
1 teaspoori Worcestershire •

Method:
• Blend ail .ingredients together;
form into 'patties 1 inch thick.
• Grill, broil or pan fry until they

Silence observed
for former member
A moment of silence was ob-
served for former member, Mrs.
Clara Halliday when members of
the- Women's Institute of Wing -
ham met in the Council Cham-
bers on Thursday afternoon. Mrs.
Elston presided for the meeting
which -opened with the Institute
Ode and the Mary Stewart Col-,
lect.
The secretary, Mrs. Shiell,
read the minutes and financial
statement. Correspondence was
read from Huronview, Clinton;
Brookhaven, Wingham; and 'Gol-
den Circle School which were all
remembered at Christmas. A
poem and letter were read from
Mrs. Hopper at Brookhaven.
The roll call was answered by
naming "the oldest article in my
home and a few remarks about
it", -which proved interesting. A
motion was made to cater to the
leaders' dinner in February.
The 4-H project for spring is
"Sportswear from 'Knits" and
any girl in the community wish-
ing to participate Should contact
Mrs. Jacklin.
Mrs. D. S. MacNaughton gave
the motto, "Praise More, Blame.
Less". Mrs. Galbraith made a
motion ,for the curator, Miss
Johnston, to buy a book for use in
her work. Miss Myrtle Johnston
gave a most interesting talk on
"History of the Tartans and
Plaids" and a display of antiques
and Tweedsmuir books was „en-
joyed by members.
Mrs. Bradburn gave several
selections on the mouth organ,
"Listen to the Mockingbird",
"Drink to Me Only with Thine
Eyes" and "Home Sweet Home".
The meeting closed with the
singing of "The Queen". A deli-
cious lunch was served by those
in charge.,
The WI Family Night is plan-
ned for Friday, Feb. 16 at 6 p.m.

first meeting of 1973
WHITECHURCH — Chahners
WMS held its January meeting
Thursday of last week at the
home of Mrs. Wesley Tiffin. The
first vice president, Mrs. Wallace
Conn, presided, in the absence of
president, Mrs. Bill Rintoul.
The meeting opened with the
reading of a New Year resolution
poem and a' hymn was sung. Mrs.
Robert Ross read the ,scripture
and gave the Meditation, "A New
Year". "In the -New Year", she
said, "we' encounter many ex-
periences and, believing in God's
premises, we will be victorious.
The Lord will not forsake those
who trust Him and will bring
peace and comfort to all".
The roll call was answered by
12giving a Bible verse containing
the word 'year' and minutes were
read by secretary, Mrs. Dawson
Craig. She also read thank -you
notes from Mrs. Jean McInnes,
Wybenga,IViisses Annie and
Mary Laidlaw and Mrs. Hugh
Simpson. Mrs. Bill Evans and
Mr*. V. Emerson also espressed

Mrs. Caslick spoke on the topic,
"Faith and Hope". She stated
that faith is the power that gives
uplift to all activities and makes ,
us thankful for all things; every-
one who believes receives for-
giveness of sin. We take much of
life for granted but if we could see
the future we would look to God in
faith and go forward. In closing,
Mrs. Caslick said, "On the
threshold of a new year we should
face all happenings with trust
and faith in God and try to live
Christmas every day".
A minute of silence was ob- •
served in honor of the passing of a
former member, Lila Emerson,
and Mrs. W. Conn closed the
meeting with prayer.
Mrs. W. R. Purdon gave a New
Year's prayer and the Ladies' 'Aid
offering was received.
