Greaser Day.
On seeing some of the sights
walking down the corridors of
E. Madill you may think you wee
in a different decade. Yes, Wed-
nesday was officially . named
"Greaser Day of '73" (a 'day
c'nmmemnratino the hnbby sox
era of''the 50's). The girls were a
variety of costumes ranging from
'the tomboy look with rolled -up
pant legs to the long skirt, bobby
sox and saddle shoes with their
hair in' ponytails or pigtails,: Of
course the slick boys could sheds
down the halls with all that bryl-
cream on their hair. Them'
straight leg pants, leather vests,
white socks and pointy shoes all
added to the outfit imitating those
days of the 50's. •
At 3:24 all the greasers slid
. down to the gym to attend a suck,
hop. E.veryonereally danced up a
storm whether they hopped,
stomped or jumped to the mu?,lcp
of Bill Haley and the Comes
Elvis and all the gang. There was
also a spot dance and a prize fors
the best costume.
I'm sure none of the students;'
can remember those days, but

The Wingham arena was pack-
ed last -Thursday afternoon as the
students of F. E. Madill Secon-
dary, School flooded down the hill
to see the student -teacher broom -
ball game.
The teachers were booed as
they came on the ice shortly after
2 p.m. (due to 'short -short'
periods) despite the threat of low
marks next term.
The goal tenders were Mr. Sim-
mons and Paul Heffer and they
both proved to be very efficient.
But Joe Pereira managed to get
one in behind Mr. Simmons for
the only goal of the game.
Most students were surprised
when Mr. Wood, the vice prin-
cipal, got a penalty. After the
game the students and teachers
shook hands. Then the stars were
chosen from the audience's ap-
plause. The star from the
teachers' team was Mr. Sim-
mons; Paul Heffer and Joe
Pereira tied for the students'
team.
After the broomball game, the
students and a few of the teachers
went on the ice for free skating.

On Monday, Tuesday and Wed-
nesday of last week three .fine
films were presented in the stu-
dent lounge during lunch hour for
the students' viewing entertain-
ment.
On Monday, "The Music BOx"
a Laurel and Hardy academy
award winner was shown. Doubt-
lessly, everyone present choked
with laughter throughout the
film, but especially during the
scene where Laurel and Hardy
delivered a piano to a home on a
hill by means of an extremely
long set of stairs.
On Tuesday the 1917 Charlie
Chaplain movie, "Easy Street",
was presented. The movie was a
comedy and was enjoyed by all
that attended.
On Wednesday all the truly
brave people in the school
gathered in the lounge to be
thrilled by "Dracula". And, al-
though they left the lounge rather
white-faced and - still shaky, all
who attended.thought it had been
well worth it.
Rick Wall looked pretty slick on Greaser Day.
