Bei.grave InterediateS
lose first gamy so far
Atwood rolled into Repave
last week and squeaked by local
intermediates by a, score Of 4 to 3.
Atwood took the lead at 8:27 of
the first period on a goal by Saun-
ders, and increased that margin
to 2 to.0 by, the end of the first per-
iod.
Atwood has a strong team and
at times during the first twenty
minutes they had the Belgrave
players scrambling about the ice.
Even so, towards the end of, the
first period Belgrave began to
come on stronger.
The second period began as the
first. ended; with Belgrave show-
ing a much stronger offence:, Bel-
grave handed out • some stiff,
bodychecks, and held Atwood in
their oat end most of the period. "
As a result, Belgrave out -scored
Atwood 3 to 2 in the second per-
• iod..,
In the third period the pattern
repeated 'itself as Belgrave
'started scrambly in the first half,,
then started to come on strong at
the end. Too late, however, as the
final score was 4 to 3 in favor of
Atwood.
Although Belgravelost this
game, it: was a thriller for • the
crowd, , and could have .gone
either way.
This game showedan improve-;
ment in the Belgrave team. The
•forward lines are starting to work
better as a unit, passing more
and backchecking as well as fore-
checking.
