Figures showed a 2.8 billion dollar increase in the cost of farm -produced food between 1961 -arid 1970. New Year begins with resolution for UCW WHITECHURCH —The United Church Women held their Janu- ary meeting on January 2nd at p.m. at the home of Mrs. Fred Tiffin. The meeting was prepared by the president, Mrs. Millan Moore, and vice president, Mrs. Elwood Groskorth. Mrs. Groskorth presided for .the worship service and opened with the poem, "Christmas", which' included every month of the year. The scripture was read by Mrs. Elwood Groskorth, Mrs. Garnet Farrier, Mrs. George Thompson and Mrs. Russel Chapman. Dr. Helen - Huston is the United Church missionary serving at this hospital. A section was read from the book, "New Horizons", on Indian women. A lively dis- cussion followed. Mrs. George Thompson told of customs in India. The offering was received. The roll call was answered by paying of fees. Wroxeter Dan Isabelle, Toronto, spent a couple of days last week with Clarence Clement and also visited his mother, Mrs. Clement, in Wingham and District Hospi- tal. Mrs: Clement is improving. Miss Ann Douglas returned to Ottawa to resume her teaching duties last week after spending the holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Les Douglas.
