"What Is Christmas?" This
was the theme for the impressive
candlelight service which took
place at the December meeting of
the • Goforth Auxiliary of St. An-
drew's Presbyterian Church;
Wingham.
Mrs. Robert Campbell, conven-
er of the meeting, gave the medi-
tation. She said, "The world was
in great darkness at the time of
the birth of Christ but the coming
of the Christ -child was as the
coming of a great light. Too many
of us have lost the radiant glow of
true Christian discipleship and
our lives do not have the zest and
radiance they should have. One of
the lights which this season
should rekindle within us, is the
glow of Christian joy -and en-
thusiasm." •
Mrs. Campbell concluded her
talk by saying, "As we watch the
Christmas candles burn,. may we
see in them a symbol of great
love which gave us Christ, that
the world in its darkness might be
illuminated and made beautiful".

—Members of the United
Church junior choir enjoyed a
`carolling hayride' last Thursday
evening. They rode through the

of Christmas to local - residents
via music and song. Among stops
on' their route were Brookhaven
Nursing Home and the Senior
Citizen apartments.

«ORRIS -- The Women's In-
stitute held its Christmas meet-
. ing in the form of a dinner at the
Blue Barn with 24 members and
guests present.
Mrs. Mel Taylor and Mrs. Alex
Graham, the committee in
charge, arranged contests, read-
ings and the traditional Christ-
mas carols, with Mrs. Wilbur
Hogg at the piano, followed by the
exchange of Christmas gifts.
Mrs. Raymond Gowdy, presi-
dent, thanked the committee and
conducted a short business
period. Mrs. William Thornton
and Mrs. Glad Edgar reported 26
potted plants delivered to Huron -
view, Fordwich; Brussels and
Palmerston nursing homes, Lis-
towel and Wingham hospitals and
local shut-ins. Mrs. Jack Fergu-
son, secretary, reported cards of
thanks and generous donations to
the organza ion.
A very ple cant noon hour was
spent and a delicious smorgas-
bord was enjoyed by all.

On Tuesday Mr. and Mrs.
George Tiffin of Lucknow, Mr.
and Mrs. Hugh McMillan, Greg,
Paul and David of Watford were
guests with Mr. and Mrs. Wesley
Tiffin.
Mr. and Mrs. Carman Whytock
and Jackie were Sunday,. guests
with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Parker of
Formosa. On Monday Mr. and
Mrs. Lloyd Whytock and Mr. and
Mrs. Carman • Whytock . enter-
tained the Whytock relatives at
the former's Log Cabin. Restau-
rant, Lucknow, and spent the
evening with Mr. and Mrs. Car-
man Whytock at the farm.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Groskorth
and family of Toronto and Mr.
and Mrs. Jim Moffat and family
of London were Saturday holiday
guests with their • parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Elwood Groskorth.

vailed ' for the mid-December
wedding uniting Margaret Jean
Howson of Blyth and Mark -Doug-
las Dauphin of RR 1, Dungannon,
in the bonds of holy .matrimony.
The ' ceremony was solemnized
Saturday, December 16, at 3 p.m. .
in Blyth United Church with Rev.
C. Wittich officiating.
Baskets of red and white mums
surrounded lighted candles in
candelabra. Organ music was
supplied by Mrs. D. Kai and Mrs.
Susan Howson, sister-in-law . of
the bride, sang "0 Perfect Love"
and "We've Only Just , Begun".
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and:Mrs. W. F. Howson of Blyth;
parents of the groom are Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Dauphin, RR 1, Dun-

wore a floor -length gown of
French chiffon velvet with stand--
up collar and long full cuffed
sleeves. The bodice of the gown
was trimmed with lace and seed
pearls and an oval train fell from
• the back. A Juliet cap held her
four -tiered nylon illusion veil and
she carried a cascade of red car-
nations and Shasta daisies.
Miss 'Mary Howson of Blyth
was her sister's maid of honor
and bridesmaids were Miss Deb-
bie German of Blyth, Mrs. Ann
Crawford, sister of the bride, of ,
Wingham;. and Miss Mary Chal-
mers of Blyth. They were gowned
alike in floor -length dresses of
red French chiffon velvet featur-
ing standup collars and short
puffed sleeves. Red velvet bows
accented their hair styles and
each attendant carried a white
muff with a spray of red and
white carnations. Flqwergirl, Su-
san Dauphin, sister of the groom,
of RR 1, Dungannon, was dressed
the , same as the senior attend-
ants.
Gary Dauphin of RR 1, Dun-
gannon was his brother's best
man and guests were ushered by
Bruce Howson, • brother of the
bride, of Blyth, Steve Caesar of
Dungannon and Don Dickson of
Goderich.
A dinner followed at the church
assembly hall where guests from
Galt, Wingham, Waterloo, Lon-
don, Oakville, Gbderich, Port Al-
bert, Dungannon and Blyth were.
received by mothers of the bridal
couple.
The bride's mother chose a
floor -length chiffon crepe gown of
peacock blue with a pink carna-
tion corsage.. The groom's
mother wore a floor -length
mauve gown and a corsage of
yellow carnations. .
For travelling to Florida, the.
bride wore a plaid smock dress
with black accessories and a
white corsage. On their return
they will reside at, RR' 5, Gode-
rich.
Honored guests at their grand-
daughter's wedding were, Mr. F.
R. Howson and Mrs. G. Orvis,
both of Wingham.
