c Ministry of Community and
SOcial Services.
The Ontario Task Force chair-
ed by H. R. Hanson is to enquire
into all matters pertaining to the
management of the Ministry of
Community and Social Services
and related matters within On-
tario, including: objectives and
goals; programs and their mode
of delivery; utilization of Duman
resources; organizational design
and 'administrative procedures;
relationships with other minis-
tries, governments, organiza-
tions and communities.
The Task Force has been em-
powered to make such recom-
mendations that will enhance the
efficiency and effectiveness of
the Ministry in attaining objec-
tives and assist in the develop-
ment of .Community and Social
Services for the people of On-
tario.
The Association Select Com-
mittee, composed of the CAS
directors of Toronto, Hamilton,
Halton, Simcoe and Huron Coun-
ties, H. H. Dymond, executive
director of the Ontario Associa-
tion, and chaired by Mrs. L. M.
Ball, a past president of the On-
tario Association, will examine
the role • of the Children's Aid
Society and its relationship with
the Ministry in provision of ser-
vices to families and children.
The Committee will also . ex-
amine matters related to possible
absorbing of CAS services into
provincial or jmunicipal govern-
ment structure, the composition
of CAS boards of directors, capi-
tal and operation funding, desir-
able changes in legislation, co-
ordination of helping services,
and the important role of volun-
teers in present and future opera-
tions.
Locally, Mr. Heath is the 1972-
73 chairman of the Huron County
Social" Services Co-ordinating
Committee, a•director of the God-
erich Rotary Club, the Advisory
Board of St. Peter's Church, God-
erich, and the Advisory Board of
the Social Services division of

Stratford student
award Winner as
ecologist of year
Brian Shaw was chosen the
first annual "Ecologist of the
'Year" from Huron -Perth second-
ary schools. He is a student at
*Stratford Northwestern Second-
ary School.
-,Contestants were eligible from
any secondary school in the two
', +'' county area and finalists were
chosen by teachers in.the schools.
"Ecologist of the Year" will be
chosen annually for 10 years and
at that time the program( will be
reviewed according to officials of
the Huron -Perth TB and RD As=
sociation, the sponsors of the
award. •
The "Ecologist of the Year"
will receive a cash prize and a
trophy will be placed , in his
school: Two runners-up will re-
ceive small trophies.
Brian Shaw helped the Strat-
ford Citizens for the Environment
in their glass recycling program
through collecting and smashing
the glass and now he is helping
the YM -YWCA in this project.
During Arbor Week 1972 he par-
ticipated in a number of events
and planned and organized the
planting of 700 trees in the. Old
Grove Park area of Stratford.
He was the delegate from the
Men's Environment Club to the
Straight Goods Conference at
Queen's University this past Aug-
ust when high school students
from all over the province met to
discuss environmental problems.
He is presently the president of
the M. E. Club
