GORRIE — The White Gift
service was held Sunday in the
United Church with Mrs. Rob-
ert Hastie, superintendent, in
charge, assisted by Rev. George
Sach.
The scripture in choral, reading
was given by Karen King, Jill_
Strong, Sandra .Carson, Garry
Grainger, Steven Mann and
David Mann.
The choir sang the anthem,
"Hope of the Nations", accom-
panied by Mrs. G. W. Sach at the
organ.
Rev. Sach gave the story,
"What Is a; Gift?" A real gift is
something which costs you some-
thing whether in : time, • effort
talent or love with the best gift of
all, God's gift of Jesus in His birth
at Christmastime to all the world.
The Sunday . School children
presented their white gifts which
will be taken to the Saugeen In-
dian Reserve for Christmas.

FORDWICH Tantalizing
aroma greeted over 30 Women's
Institute members and friends
from Lakelet at the close of a
busy session recently. Mrs.
Harold Doig and Miss Minnie .Mc
Elwain were the leaders of the
course, Ontario Fruit, and very
capably demonstrated, new
recipes using local fruit and
stressed the important link be-
tween the fruit and vitamin C.
The ladies met in the United
Church. hall. After some demon-
strations and discussion a buffet
luncheon was served from a gaily
decorated table. Dishes on the
menu included an applesauce
meat loaf on a platter surrounded
with spicy peach halves and com-
pote apples. There was a tossed
apple -tuna salad, cherry coconut
delight, apple strudel and a love-
ly fruit tray with cheese balls and
fruit dressing most attractively
arranged for the festive season.
Those ladies in attendance ex-
pressed their appreciation to the
two leaders for all ithe work they
had put into the course to make it
such a success.

FORDWICE -- The* United
Church Men's Club held its
Christmas meeting last week at
the church when the ladies were
guests. About. 50 attended.
Robert. Hibberd of Belgrave
and formerly of Fordwich gave
devotions from Matthew and 'also
chose the title, "Fullness of
Time" to speak on.
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Scheifele,
Mrs. Bruce Penny and Robert
Hibberd. sang two numbers,
"Where Could I Go?" and "All
for Me", with Mrs. Raymond Neil
of Wingham accompanying them
on the piano.
Crokinole was enjoyed as well
as several contests, after which
lunch was served. Mrs. Glenn
Johnston, on behalf of the ladies,
thanked the men.
Rev. Charles Forrest closed the
meeting with benediction.

form of a luncheon on Wednes-
day, Nov. 29 in the community,
hall here to over 30ladies. The
draw on an apple strudel was won
by Mrs. Alvin Grainger.
