BELMORE — The November
meeting of the McIntosh United
Church Women was held in the
church • basement.
The president, Mrs. Oliver
Dustow opened the meeting with
scripture. Mrs. Jim Busby was in
charge of devotions and the
hymn.. "Onward Christian Sol-
diers" was sung. Mrs. Ivan Ma-
whinney read the scripture. Mrs.
Busby then gave the meditation
on Remembrance, followed by
prayer. The closing hymn was
"As a Volunteer". Mrs. Harvey
Wright gave a reading for Chris-
tian and missionary education.
For the feature of the meeting
the president conducted a Bible

Young people meet
at Simpson home
VVHITECHURCH — The Young
People's Society held its meeting
Sunday evening at 8 p.m. at' the
home of Murray Simpson.
The meeting opened with the
reading of scripture bY Douglas
Ross. Mr. V. VVybenga led in
prayer. The minutes of the' last
meeting were read by secretary
Jean Simpson. The young people
made plans to go bowling on Sat-
urday, November 25, at 9 p.M.
A lively discussion followed
centering around the topic "Pol-
lution and Over -population". Fol-
lowing the discussion, a game
called "Teapot" was enjoyed by
all.
Lunch was served and Kathy
Wybenga thanked the hostesses,
Mrs. Simpson and Jean:
Next meeting will be Sunday,
December 3, at the home of
Kathy Wybenga at 8 p.m.

don, mother of wPrain-damaged
child, had a gripping message for
an audienCe of more than 40 at
Delmore Monday evening when
she addressed a meeting_ of par-
ents of pre-school children of Sil-
ver Circle School here, Wingham
nursery volunteers, members of
Youths Across Canada for the
Mentally Retarded (YACMR)
and Belmore residents.
The meeting was held in the'
Behnore Community Hall where
Mrt. Mulvey was guest speaker
and showed some colored slides
of the new developmental day
centre at London. A tour of the
centre and nursery school is
being made available for Silver
Circle staff and representatives
of YACMR.
Mrs. Mulvey has been a pro-
lific freelance writer on the sib-
ject of -retardation and remedial
efforts, writing extensively for
the cause of mentally retarded
children in Canadian newspapers
and periodicals from coast tq
coast. One of her earliest articles
'was published in the Advance -
Times in 1959.
A lively questioh and answer
period was held following the talk
and slides. Lunch was served.
The meeting was held for the
Silver Circle by the Belmore' WI,
which has maintained a continu-
ing interest in the school here
since its foundation in 1969.
THE SALAD QUEENS
Janet Adams opened the meeting
of the Salad Queens at the home
of Mrs. Elmer Sleightholm. The
minutes were read by Kathy Wy-
benga. Roll call was answered by
the ten members telling one
vegetable that was new to them.'
Discussion centred on plans for
Achievement Day which will be
held at the Lucknow school on
December 16. The project was re-
viewed. Books are to be handed in
by the end of November.
Janet Adams demonstrated the
making of egg plant patties and
all tasted them. The girls also
worked on their book covers.

Wawanosh native 1
dies in London
A resident of East Wawanosh
Township all his life, Cecil 'Pur-
vey Coultes passed away at Vic-
toria Hospital, London, on Thurs-
day in his 66th year. Death fol-
lowed a lengthy illness.
Mr. Coultes was born in East
Wawanosh Township, a son of the
late Robert Coultes and Mary
Turvey. He attended Currie's
School and Wingham High School
and farmed in East Wawanosh
until hiS retirement two years
ago. He was a member of the Cal-
% vin -Brick United Church.
Surviving are his wife, the
former Janisa Homuth of Wind-
sor; one daughter, Mrs. Dav,,id
(Barbara) Spencer of Toronto;
two sisters, Mrs. Charles
(Agatha) Kaasa 431' Calgary and
Mrs. Gordon (Louise) Bosman of
Belgrave; and one brother, Ron-
ald Coultes of East Wayvanosh.
The late. Mr. Coultes rested at
Wingham, until Saturday at 2
p.m. when service was conducted
by Rev. John G. Roberts. Inter-
ment was in Wingham Cemetery.
Pallbearers were his six
nephews, Murray Coultes, Walter
Armes, Allan Bosman, Donald
Bosman, David Boaman and
Clayton Bosman. Flower bearers
were his nie.ces, .Joan Wester-
hout, Mary Hatheway, Joyce
Coultes and Darlene Coultes.
