Nine hundred and ninety adults
are returning to WW1 One night
each wee to attend chaos in
subjects . their own Merest
ranging om a$ an; - auto
mechanics to welding and
women'S physical fitness. At the
same time last year only seven
hundred and nine had registered.
Several new classes have been.
added to those which have been
available in former years. Sew-
ing and typing continue to be two
of the most popular courses, but
their position is being rivalled by
gourmet -cooking,' liquid em-
- hroidery and hairdressing or per-
sonal grooming. Judo, karate,
. golf and badminton classes all
have large enrolments. Although
several. students still attend eve-
ning classes in bookkeeping,
shorthand, computer program-
ming and grade XIII subjects for
credit toward a certificate, the
majority are interested in leis-
ure -time activities such as
ceramics, oil painting, photo:
graphy and upholstery.
This year, for the first time,
two classes in tailoring are being
taught at Seaforth District High
School: These resulted from a re-
quest from a group in that area.
The Huron County Board of Edu-
cation had indicated a willing-
ness to provide a class in any
area where such interest is shown
and an instructor is available.
Several new classes. will be be-
ginning in January '73. Those al-
ready suggested are rug hooking,
golf instruction and interior
decorating. If there is a subject
you would like to have given, dis-
cuss it with your friends, get
them interested, and contact the
evening class principal at your
local secondary school to see if
proper arrangements can be
made.
