Cecil George James Cooper of Fordwich died Saturday, Nov. 11 in Listowel Memorial Hospital.0 He was in his 83rd year and only recently had his driver's licence renewed. Born June 24, 1890 at Conn, he was the second son- of the late James Cooper and Maria Gibson. Following his marriage to the former Dora Glyde Allen,the couple farmed in Howick Town- ship for a number of years before retiring to Fordwich. From Ford- with they moved to Atwood where 'they lived for a brief period before returning to Ford- wich. • In '1916 Mr. Cooper enlisted with the 153rd British' Expendi- tory Force as a stretcher bearer. He received an honorable dis- charge due to illness. Surviving besides his 'wife are. four children, two sons, Allen of Bahamas and Everett of Toronto, and two . daughters, Maryzella Stephenson of Alliston and June Fitzmaurice of London; one sis- ter Mrs. G. A. (Lula) Gibson of Wroxeter and nine grandchil- dren. The funeral service was held , Monday, Nov. 13 from Moir Funeral Home, Gorrie at 2 p.m. with Rev. Charles Forrest of ii Fordwich United Church officiat- ing. Burial was in Fordwich Cemetery. Mrs. - J. Jones buried in Gorrie Mrs. James Jones died Thurs- day, November 9 in Wingham and District Hospital. She had been in failing health for some time. Mrs. Jones was the . 'former Olive Irene Gunby, daughter of ` the late Mr. and Mrs. William Gunby and was born November 23, 1904, in Melton, Mowbray, England. She came to Canada with her parents in- 1912. On March 17, 1925, she married James Jones in Toronto. They re- sided at Cooksville and Durham prior to Coming to Gorrie in 1968. She was °a member of St. Ste- phen's Anglican Church, Gorrie. She leaves besides her hus- band, three daughters, Miss Mar- jorie Jones' of Toronto, Mrs. Nor- man (June) Goucher of Port Credit and Mrs. Clayton (Rose) Wilhelm, Palmeirston; three sons, James of Alderwood, William of Port Credit and Wes if ley of Acton. There are eight grandchildren. Funeral service was held on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Moir Funeral Home, Gorrie, conduct- ed by Rev. P. Dodds of St. Ste- phen's Church.
