Mr. Foxton was born in Culross
Townshii) 69 years ago. He was a
son . of the late William Foxton
and Mary Jane Walker. He at-
tended Holmes Public School and
was a dairy farmer in his early
life. For some years he was a
caretaker at the local cemetery
and for the last two yeays he'has
,worked for the public works de-
partment in the Town of Wing -
ham. He retired in September of
this year.
He was a member of the Wing -
ham United Church.
Surviving are his wife, the for-
mer Helen Katherine Schu-
macher, whom he married in
Wingham in 1939; two daughters,
Mrs. Ronald (Betty Jean) Nelson
of Norwood,' Ontario, and Mrs.
David (Marjorie) McKay of
Wingham; and on son Gerald of
New Dundee. Also surviving are
five grandchildren,- two sisters,
Mrs. Sarah Mair of Winnipeg and
Mrs. Norma Bender of Wing -
ham ; and twdl brothers, Albert of
Wingham and Herb of RR 2;
Wingham. He was predecceased
by five brothers and two sisters.

dies in hospital
A Grey Township farmer•• for
most of his, p.y.Fars,; Mark Car -
Monday at the Wingham and Dis-
trict Hospital following a brief ill-
ness.
Born and educated in Grey
Township, Mr. Cardiff was a son
of tlje late Thomas Cardiff and
Elizabeth Ferguson. He farmed
in Grey until his rettirement in
1970.. He was a member of St.
John's° Anglican Church, Brus-
SurViving are his wife,. the for-
mer Cecil Coutts; three. daugh-
ters, Mrs. Archie (Viola) Riley of
Clinton, Mrs. Arthur (Olive) Bell
of Goderich and Mrs. Lloyd
(Vera) Weber of Grey Township;
four sons, Jack of St. Catharines,
George of Grey Township, Clif-
ford W. and William both of Brus-
sels. Also left to mourn are 34
grandchildren, 24 great-grand-
children, three sisters, Mrs. Rob7
ert (Emme) Shine of Monkton,
Mrs. Walter (Maggie) Penning-
ton of Grey Township and Mrs.
James (Mabel) Bailey of Elam
Township; and one brother,
Richard of Langs, Saskatchewan:
He was predeceased by one
daughter, Verna.
The late Mr. Cardiff rested at
the M. L. Watt Funeral.Home in
Brussels until Wednesday when
removal was made to St. John's
AngliCan Church for service at 2
p.m. Rev. Keith Stokes officiated.
Interment followed in Brussels
Cemetery. •

skating session as bantam age hockey players got their first
rugged workout of the season at Wingham arena Saturday.
