Kindergarten
The Kindergarten class walked
down to the Red Front to buy our
Hallowe'en pumpkin.
On Friday we carved a happy
'face out of the pumpkin and used
some of it to make pumpkin pies
which Mrs. Wilhelm kindly II
baked.
We wrote stories about our ac-
tivities and followed up with Hal-
lowe'enlart. -
Grade 1 and 2
Grade 1 and 2 made 'various
Hallowe'en projects—booklets,
jack -o -lanterns, mobile bats and
stuffed pumpkins. We wrote
stories and read them in a candle-
lit room to create a spooky acd-
nlosphere. We had a masquerade
party on Tuesday • where we
played- 4lallowe'en games, and
had a costume parade.
Grade 3 and 4
Grade 3 and 4 made up Hallo-
we'en. plays . and are presenting
them to Kindergarten and
Grades 1 and 2 on October 31st.
Grade 5 and 6 •
Grade 5 and 6 made up . Ha1lo-
we'en poems and put them on
pictures of ghosts, witches, black
cats and posted the>5n on the wall.

FORDWICH — Mr. and Mrs.
Ira H. Schaefer, celebrated their'
50th wedding anniversary on Oc-
tober 25, with a dinner for mem-
bers, of the immediate family at
the United Church of which the
couple are members.
Both were born on the 4th
concession of Howick. They were
married in the rectory in Gorrie
on October 25, 1922. They farmed
on both homesteads of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schaefer,
concessions 4 and 5, until retiring
to their present home in Ford-
wich on October 11, 1965.
They have three children, Don-
ald E. M. Schaefer of Toronto,
Mrs. George (Thelma) . Trethe-
way of Stratford, and Mrs.
Robert (Jeanne) Petznick of Kit-
. chener, and 11 grandchildren.

a cold day, the game was well
played.
Turnberry took a 2-0 lead in the
first half. Terry Anger closed the.
score to 2-1 early In the second
half, but Turnberry returned late
in the game to score two fast
goals. The game ended with the 4-
I score standing up.
Grade 7 and 8
Prior to the election we had
nominations for the 'leaders of
political parties. Gordon Kinahan
represented the Liberals, Anne
Marie Mahe represented the Pro-
gressive Conservatives. Their
campaign included speeches by
the candidates, posters and
'badges were made by their cam-
paign workers. On the election
day,%Grades,5-to•8•votedvf itttre-
sults as follows: the . Liberal
Party won by 'a strong majority.
What's new at
Huronvlew?
,A choir from the Clinton Chris-
tian Reformed Church led the
singing at the song service on
Sunday evening- with Arie Van
Der Eyde leading the devotional
period. .
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Finlay of
Goderich along with Norman
Speir and Jerry Collins of Huron -
view provided the music for Mon-
day afternoon's program.
Volunteers from the Christian
Reformed Church assisted with
activities. The new residents
from Exeter and Wingham were
welcomed and two residents cele-
brating bitthdays were sere-
naded at the sing -a -long.
Two entertainers who have
been long-time favorites of the
folks at the home, Earl and
Martha Heywood, were on hand
on Thursday evening to provide
the Family Night program. The
Heywoods blended their voices
for some old-tyme and German
songs, then Earl baffled the
audience with his magic tricks.
Alice, Buchanan' expressed the
appreciation of the residents and ,
guests for a very enjoyable eve-
ning. By the way, it was en-
couraging to have a good attend-
ance of the relatives at the pro-
gram.
The craft room is a beehive of
activity thee days getting things
finished for the annual bazaar on
Wednesday, November 8th.
