WI discusses
upcoming rally
The district rally to be held in
Auburn, October 2, was the main
item of business -discussed when
the Women's Institute met in the
Council Chambers last Thursday.
Voting delegates were appointed
by the members present. Mrs,
Elston presided for the business
and Mrs, Shiell read the minutes
of previous meetings.
The roll call, "How I would like
to be remembered if I was a shut-
in", was answered by"each mem-
ber present.
Mrs. Les Jacklin outlined the
work of the 4-H clubs in Huron
County during the past summer
and fall. She lso spoke on the
motto, "Domeftic peace cannot
be preserved in jars".
Two piano solos were played by
two 441 club members.

RR 1, Bluevale, and grandson
Sean were to the Toronto Interna-
tional Airport last Wednesday, to
meet their daughter,. Mrs. Marj-
orie Shupe and children, Rodney
and Rene of Nanaimo, B.C. They
will be visiting for the next two
weeks. '

Larke Carson weds N. T.
Baskets of white, , orange and
yellow gladioli, and candelabra
decorated the Gorrie United
Church on Saturday, September
16th at 4:30 p.m. for the marriage
of Larke Eleanore Carson to Neil
Thomas McDonald. The bride is
the eldest daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Richard A. Carson of Gorrie
and the groom is the eldest son of
Mr. and Mrs. J: M. McDonald of
Brussels. Rev. George _ W. Sach
officiated for the double -ring
ceremony. Mrs. G. -W. Sach was
organist and Miss Peggy Carson
of Brockville, a cousin of the
bride was soloist and sang,
"Wedding Prayer" and "We've
Only Just Begun".
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a white tradi-
tional gown of Chantilly lace, fit-
. ted bodice and long Victorian
sleeves. The' full -tiered skirt
ended in a cathedral train. Her
scalloped elbow length veil was
held in place by a lace -covered
Juliet cap, trimmed with dainty
crystals didpearls. The bride
wore a gold filagree leaf and dia-
mond brooch formerly belonging
to her paternal great-grand-
mother. She carried a cascade
bouquet of Orange Delight and
white roses, white stephanotis
and trailing ivy.
Miss Colleen Carson of Garvie,
sister of the bride was maid of
honor, wearing an A-line gown bf
shrimp sculptured. nylon. Vene-
tian lace yoked the white crystal-
ette bodice and edged the ruffled
sleeves. She carried a cascade
bouquet of Orange Delightroses,
blue cornflower, white baby's
Late summer ceremony
unites Tiverton couple
A very pretty- wedding took
place in St. Anthony of Padua
Roman Catholic Church, Kin-
cardine, when Roberta Darlene
Slessor and James Albert Hanni-
man were united in marriage.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Harold Slessor of RR 1,
Tiverton and the groom is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Hilary Hanniman
of Tiverton.

Riversdale, officiated at the dou-
ble ring ceremony. Organ music
was' provided by Mrs. Ambrose
Gamble of Ripley. Larry Irwin,
Ripley, sang "How Great Thou
Art" after the bride's mother was
seated and "Walk Hand in Hand"
during the signing of the register.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a white
floor -length fitted gown of poly-
ester crepe with a high line
bodice of white daisy lace over
taffeta. The gown had long full
sleeves with tight cuffs and
standup collar. The rounded
floor -length train was fastened at
the back of the empire waistline.
Her three -tiered scalloped elbow -
length veil fell from a matching
lace cap and she carried a bridal
bouquet of white pompon mums
and mauve orchids.
Debbie Wilson, Toronto, friend
of the bride, was maid of,honor.
The bridesmaids were Gloria
Lewis, London, cousin of the
bride, Mrs. Elaine Gossell, Kin-
• cardine, Mrs. Lenore Dickson,
RR 1, Tiverton, Mrs. Gwen Mac-
Arthur, RR 5, . Kincardine and
Miss Connie,Slessor, RR 1, Tiver-
ton, sisters of the bride. They
wore floor -length, loose. fitting
gowns of polyester crepe accen-
ted by Hoods and long sleeves.
The gowns -were pastel" shades of
'mauve, yellow, green, pink, blue
and coral , respectively. They
carried auturpn.glory; bouquets of
mauve, yellow • and blue, pom-
pons, dark pink . and • orange
carnations with green satin
leaves and streamers to match
each dress.
The church was decorated with
two candelabra of yellow candles

Megan McKenzie, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Donald McKenzie,
friend of the bride, was flower
girl. She wore a white purple -
flocked floor -length organza
gown accented by a hood and long
•sleeves, belted with a deep purple
velvet ribbon. She carried a bas-
ket of mauve and yellow pom-
pons and matching streamers.
The dresses, including the
bride's, were made by Mrs. R.
Clyde of Bervie.
Robert Hanniman, Tiverton,
brother of the groom, was
groomsman. Ushering guests
were Terry Schell, Toronto,
friend of the groom, Peter Foy,
Warren, friend of the groom, Bill
McGonegal, Tiverton, brother-in-
law of the groom, Garry Gossell,
Kincardine, brother-in-law of the
bride and Kevin Hanniman,
Tiverton, brother of the groom.
Michael McDermott, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Don McDermott, Pais-
ley, friend of the groom, was ring
bearer.
The dinner was held at the
Community. Centre, Tiverton,
served by the ladies of the
Eastern Star. Wilfred Slessor of
Windsor, a cousin .of the bride,
was Master of Ceremonies.
The bride's mother received
the guests wearing a floor -length
crimpoline gown of brown, gold
and green with gold accessories
and ,a corsage of ,Orange Delight
roses, The groom's another chose
a floor -length crimpoline gown of
purple, pink and blue with black
accessories and a corsage of'yel-
low Town Crier roses. '
A, preception was held in the.
Kincardine Curling Club with.
music by "The Common Touch".
For travelling to the East Coast
the bride chose a • two-piece
crimpoline dress of pink, purple,
blue and navy trimmed with
white. Her accessories were
white with a corsage of mauve
orchids. On their return they will.
reside at RR 4, Kincardine.
Guests attending from 'a dis-
tance were from North Bay Call-
ander, Renfrew; Napanee, De-
troit, Windsor, Pembroke, Toron-
to, London, Wingham and Bel -
grave. •
The bride and groom were
happy to have their grand-
parents, Mr. and Mrs. ,Harry
Cook, Belgrave, and Mrs. Myrtle
Slessor, Wingham, attend.
Prior to her marriage the bride
was the recipient of many lovely
gifts at three showers, a bath-
room shower at the home of Mrs.
Machan Leggett; a shower for
relatives at the home of Mrs.

Miss Susan Carson, cousin of
the bride, Brockville, Miss Lynda
Johnston, frierld'of the bride, and
Miss Sandra Carson, sister of the
bride, were bridesmaids. Their
attire was identical to that of the
maid of honor. Miss Kimberley
Anne Stevens, of West Hill, was
flower girl. She wore a gown
identical to the bridesmaids' in a.
buttercup yellow. Her `bo.sket•
contained flowers similar to
those in the bride's bouquet.
Bruce Hahn of Kitchener was
best man, Ushers were Paul. Mc-
Donald, brother of the groom;
Gary Long, and John Wayne Mc-
Donald, brother of the groom, all
of Brussels. They wore„ brown
Edwardian -style tuxedos with
yellow. ruffled shirts. The ring
bearer was Master i Bradley
Christiansen. He was dressed
identically to the ushers.
The reception was held at the
Blue Barn, Listowel. A three
tiered cake centered . the bride's
table. Norman Carson was mas-
ter of ceremonies. Following the
dinner the guests danced to the
music of Elliott Carruthers of
Ripley.
The bride's mother received
the guests wearing a .00r -length
ensemble °Pawl* avocado green coat
over a green and white figured
gown, gold and white accessories
and white gardenia corsage.
The groom's mother chose a
yellow Mine floor length gown
with appliqued nylon bodice, long
slim sleevesand a corsage of
Orange Delight roses.
For a wedding trip to Northern
Ontario the bride wore a grey
double knit suit with grey and..
white vest and red accessories. _
Her corsage was of red carna-
tions.
The rehearsal party was held
at the home of the groom's par-
ents. Pre-nuptialswere held by
Mrs. Irving Toner assisted by
Mrs. A. Taylor and Mrs. A. Gib-
son; Mrs. L. Johnston assisted by
Miss Lynda Johnston; a luncheon
at Middlesex College, London; a
picnic and presentation was held
by the Ainberley Cottage neigh-
bours and friends; A trousseau
tea was also held in honor of the
bride by her' mother.
.The couple will reside in Brus-
sels. ,

Once more this year the Huron
County Board of Education will
get behind the mothers. of Huron
who would like to see Sesame
Street carried on local television.
A letter from the board to
CFPL in London will go out short-
ly, requesting that the program
be scheduled this winter if at all
possible. �
The action was touched�ff by a
letter from an Exeter mother to
the board at its regular meeting
in Clinton last week.
